Title: Clayfighter

Synopsis: A bunch of clay people want to become *drumroll* 'KING OF THE CIRCUS.' Awesome. This is achieved by several fights to the death. It's a good thing all those kids who wanted to run away to join the circus never actually did or else we would have a big mess on our hands.
The Genesis had a slew of generic fighting games. You can tell these games by either their TV license such as TMNT Tournament Fighters or Power Rangers or a name that isn't; "Mortal Kombat" or "Street Fighter." You have a few characters, a few levels, a few special moves and that's it. Have fun. Primal Rage fit into this category and it sucked. Clayfighter fit into this category as well and according to critics, it sucked, but somehow it gained quite a following.
The game definitely scores high points for originality, which was its definite selling point. This was helped along by awesome computer-generated clay-like graphics which looked quite nice, and still do today. The levels are fun to look at. It all looks very light and simple.
Now the characters...wow. You have some classics like...THE BLOB, which is, uh, a blob, Bad Mr. Frosty, an evil snowman, the assumed main character of the game. Then there are some 'wtf' characters like Blue Suede Goo, an Elvis impersonator, Ichabod Clay, a ghost with a pumpkin head, and TAFFY, supposedly a piece of taffy, but made out of clay. Taffy confused me but I always played as him.
Originality: We already covered this. If games like Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat never existed then I could imagine seeing some Clayfighter clones.
Graphics: Nice computer-animated graphics and the characters' moves flow nicely. I recommend the Blob if you're going to sample this.
Music: Sounds alright at first with circus themes and such, but you'll tire of it fast, except for Taffy's stage. That's a catchy tune.
Gameplay: The characters are fun, the levels are fun, the control is responsive and it's not too hard. You can find better than Clayfighter but you can definitely find worse.
