Synopsis: A story of heroes, fantasy, and romance, Final Fantasy 2 is one of the best RPGs for the SNES. Truly, it is a game for the serious Final Fantasy role-players (and whoever else might enjoy RPGs). Final Fantasy 2 (4 in japan) shaped the continuing Final Fantasy series for the better. The scenes are a variation of adventure, heart-breaking sadness, evil enemies, and all-around great characters. Speaking of the characters, they are all fantastically moving, pulling you straight into the storyline as you meet and learn about each of them. The main character, Cecil, is both dark and the perfect picture of a romantic hero destined to save the world from devastation. Rosa is a lovely heroine, bearing the task of white magic in all her grace. Kain, a true warrior, he is loyal to his closest friend, Cecil, but is blackened by his jealously for Rosa’s heart. Rydia is the cute, yet daring, young caller helping Cecil and Rosa against the dread Baron. The spunky ninja guy is Edge, a hopeless lover-boy and Damcyan prince. There are many more characters that you meet along the journey. And now... to summarize a bit of the storyline (no spoilers ):
The story starts with a young dark knight from Baron. He has recently stolen a most precious crystal from Mysidia. He questions his actions and is relieved from his command of the Red Wings and is sent on a small mission to bring a package to a small town called Mist. His friend, Kain, has to go along with him. Soon, they meet a young girl named Rydia. She is a caller, a special magic-user that can call upon animals and monsters to aid her. On the journey they lose Kain and come across Rosa and a few other characters. The story continues, revealing many hidden secrets, friends, and foes.
In conclusion, Final Fantasy 2 is, and will always be, one of the greatest RPGs of all time. I recommend it to anyone who can deal with the old SNES graphics and music, which are actually quite good.
