Title: Final Fantasy 2 (2nd Review)
Author:Square Soft
Rom Player: ZSNES
Reviewer: Matt Frankle

Synopsis: Considered by many to be the one game to revolutionize console RPG's, Final Fantasy 2 is, in my opinion, one of the best games ever. Although us Americans were forced to play a dumb-ed down easy version of the game(there are two versions, Easytype and Hardtype. FF4, in Japan, is hardtype, while FF2, the American release, is easytype. Items were removed, for example, items used to cure individual ailments were replaced by the panacea Heal. Also, a secret room in the Dwarves' Castle, entitled Cafe HOWDY! in FF4 easytype, was originally a secret 'developers' room that contained a porno mag. This was deemed inappropriate for American audiences. Not a big suprise there.), it still presented an in-depth storyline, good graphics(for it's time anyway, however, I can never stress enough that graphics are the LEAST important part of an RPG) and an excellent musical score. The only real complaint I have about this game is the poor translation job done by Square. However, this is really not that important, as you can still fully understand what is being said. As for the story: Cecil, the Captain of the Red Wings, the powerful air force of the Kingdom of Baron, question's his King's authority after forcefully taking the Crystal of Water from the town of Mysdia. He is dismissed from his post as commander of the Red Wings, and is ordered to deliver a package to the Village Of Mist. Cecil's good friend, Kain, is told to accompany him. This is where the adventure begins. While I could sit here and type out the entire story to you, it's a hell of alot easier for you to figure it out on your own, rather than me typing it. However, I will tell you that Cecil undergoes a dramatic change about one quarter way through the game, and he continues to find more about his mysterious past as the game progresses. I won't ruin the story for you, but I will say that the ending of the game is literally out of this world, as Cecil the Paladin, Kain the Dragoon, Rosa the White Wizard, Edge the Ninja/Prince of Eblan, and Rydia the Caller(a bit of a spoiler I suppose, but you'll live.), fighting to save all of humanity from a great evil that is eating away at man. I have had this game since 1991 when it came out, and thankfully, the battery on the cartridge still works, so, even after eleven years I can still enjoy the game as it was meant to be played, on the SNES itself. If anyone reading this has any questions relating to the game in any way, feel free to email me, and I will try to be of help.

Best Cheats: There is a way to duplicate weapons and shields. However, this is posted in FAQs all over the web, so there is no need for me to post it here. Plus, I believe this detracts from the original storyline of the game. For example, what's the point of having two legendary Masamune's when there's only supposed to be one? Not like Easytype's all that hard anyway..
