Synopsis: I'm shocked to find that nobody has written a review for this game yet. I guess it's up to old Bad Mr. Frosty to do it.
Urban Champion was probably one of the first games out for the system. It looks crappy, it plays crappy and not just by today's standards. This is horrible even for 1985. Well, it's a fighting game, something along the lines of a street fighting game. Interesting that this type of game exists from then.
Well, there's not much to say about a fighting game anyhow and there's even less to say about this particular fighting game. In the game you play a fighter and he looks like a variation of Luigi from the Mario Bros games. You beat up on guys that look exactly like you, except different clothes and green hair and other silly differences like that. You are out on a street in front of various places of business, you know like a bookstore or something. Sometimes people will drop things from the windows above you. WHY? I have no idea!! It's even lamer when a police car goes by and the two fighters break it up, look at the sky, and whistle until the car goes by. Then it's back to the battle..
But there is a saving grace.
The object of the game is to punch your opponent into the sewer. And actually, even at Round 66 I still haven't gotten tired of it. It would be even cooler if blood flew every where every time you socked your green-haired nemesis in the jaw.
This may be one of the first NES games, but I say it still has a lot of potential. Download it NOW!
