Synopsis: I'm not sure of the status of this game with other retro gamers, but in my circle of friends this used to be a total classic. Kickle Cubicle was a game that we played constantly a good decade ago. The story isn't anything special, but the whole game is a very strange and interesting concept. You play Kickle Cubicle, a bright white little toddler with ear muffs that apparently likes sub-zero temperatures. You need to save a bunch of princesses from strange creatures keeping them hostage. To do this, you must solve all of the puzzles in each land. Each land seems to advertise different foods to make you hungry (well, it used to make ME hungry). You start off in Garden Land and continue through others such as Cake Land, Fruit Land, and some more to that effect. Your job in each level is to collect all of the flashing red objects (which I'm still not positive what they are). To complete this task, you must use your icy cold breath to freeze enemies into ice cubes and kick them into the water which turns it into land (Get it? KICKle CUBicle?). If you despise cutesy games, you better not touch this one with a 10 foot pole. The little blue jumping blobs are adorable and Kickle himself makes you want to pinch his cheeks like you were his aunt. Although, if you don't mind that, that doesn't make this any less of a fun and entertaining puzzle game. Considering some of my favorite games involve Kirby and Bub & Bob, I'm probably biased. Back to the object, other than just freezing enemies, you can place ice columns on land blocks. These can work to your advantage by blocking enemies or creating a route for your ice blocks to run on.
The gameplay is all around great. This game will definitely keep you entertained if you are into puzzle games. Kickle Cubicle also uses a password system so you won't get too fed up with losing (chances are you won't care if you are playing the rom). The music? Well, the song is classic. Yes, I said song. There is only one song that plays through every single level. Due to the repetition, I can't speak highly of the music. The graphics are pretty well done and the whole game is very colorful. Aside from those who also think the whole game is a classic; I recommend this as a great game with an original twist.
