Title: Sonic the Hedgehog
Author:Sonic Team/Sega
Rom Player: Genecyst
Reviewer: ApocalypseTurtle859

Synopsis: Sonic the Hedgehog was the must-buy game for the Genesis back then. This was a time when "Mascot-Mania" was popular game developers were making their own little character to put into their game. Apparently, a lot sucked, but some have yet achieved an audience worthy of gaming. Apparently, Sonic seemed to be opposite of Mario (Obviously, Sega had to make him opposite). Sonic's games were all about speed where Mario's are about going through the stage at a slow pace.
I'll talk about the game now. The story is nothing real special, because no storytelling goes on. It deals with Dr. Robotnik (Remember that name if you want to play the whole series) turning all of Sonic's little animal friends into robots or something. So Sonic has to get his friends back and put an end to Dr. Robotnik's madness. In Sonic, there were 6 stages, each with 3 acts. The first 2 are standard platform levels, while the third act was a boss battle. Similar to Mario's mushroom system Sonic collected rings. If an enemy hit him, he'd lose all his rings. If an enemy with no rings hit him, he'd lose a life. If you were an expert platformer, you'd beat Sonic in 1 to 2 hours. But Sonic remains a classic game that you'd come back to, no matter how many times you beat it.

Gameplay-10: Fast-paced platform action with a good number of variety.

Graphics-10: I find nothing to complain about here.

Music-10: Catchy tunes that won't annoy you!

Originality-8: It just seems too much like Mario at times. But when it's not, it's a blast to play.

Overall Rating-9: Give it a shot. It's a really good platformer.

Best Cheats: Nothing Entered
