Title: Demon Sword (2nd Review)
Author:Taito USA
Rom Player: FCE Ultra
Reviewer: PlasmaJack

Synopsis: Many people look for the holy grail of action games, and they usually find games such as Metal Slug, Final Fight and Contra to sooth such tendencies, but for those people who are looking for action in it's purest form, I offer Demon Sword. The story I can't really piece together: You're some ninja dude who's putting together a kickass sword in order to slay a demon and save the princess... Okay, the story sucks, but it makes up for its plotholes with pure gameplay. The goal is simple: Get to the end of the level while not getting killed by the minions of evil. It may sound hard, but when you have a killer sword that can slice a concrete pillar in half, and shurikens to boot, and your amazing ability to jump nearly 50 feet in the air, you'll be just fine. Besides such things, you can also find keys which can open the Ethereal Doors to fight ninja masters in order to get their special weapons. (They include the mighty Lightning, which attacks everything on the screen; the Fireball, which surrounds you with a impenetrable whirling fire shield that kills anything that touches it; and the Winged Shurikens, which pretty much annihilate anything in front of it.). The music in this game is catchy, and you'll find yourself whistling it a few hours after you play, the sounds are impressive for an NES game, (That sword sound makes my day.), but the graphics are a bit rudimentary, probably to reduce slowdown, being that this is a high action game.

Overall, if you're looking for something a little different from Contra, or another ninja game besides Ninja Gaiden, here's the game for you.
