Title: Rygar (3rd review)
Author:Tecmo
Rom Player: FCE Ultra
Reviewer: PlasmaJack

Synopsis: One of the best cult games. EVER. The way to describe such a game is nearly impossible for me, so I'll try my best to describe it.

Rygar is the epic story of the Barbarian Warrior, Rygar, and his quest to save his homeland of Argool from the demons that have ruled it for thousands of years by opening the Door of Peace, hidden within the main demon's fortress. Along the way, you'll converse with many a bald men, jump over many spiked red things, and gut many a monster with your deadly spinning sawblade/chain (Editor’s note: diskarmor).

Rygar is an action game and somewhat an adventure: In order to get anywhere, you have to find a particular item in a particular land in order to advance to the next stage, but the time spent looking for the items will not go to waste, because in every level, there's an entire legion of monsters awaiting you, and raring to tear you limb from limb. Fortunately, you're Rygar: Barbarian Warrior and skilled with your sawblade/chain weapon, so you can easily slice right through your beastly opposition, and if they get too strong, there's the extra and unique option of RPG style experience points and upgrades, being able to increase your hit points, strength and such, but you'll probably be too distracted in cutting the monsters into nice ribbons to notice that option.

The graphics of this game do the job, meaning you can tell Rygar from a tree, and the monsters from the wall. The music is very well done. These tunes are going to lodge straight into your head, and you'll definitely find yourself humming these tunes to yourself. The sound is sub par, but the noise when you destroy a monster could have been better.

Needless to say, if you ever run into this game in a recyclery or a used game store, make sure to buy it. Those five bucks aren't going to waste.
