Title: Mortal Kombat

Synopsis: The game that pissed off Senator Joe Lieberman. The Sega Genesis version of Mortal Kombat was one of the games to own back in the day simply because it had the feature that made Mortal Kombat famous: The gore. C'mon admit it, you played this one just to see a guy getting decapitated or burned to death. Another great part was watching Johnny Cage do his split punch. That was too comical for words. Tossing somebody into the pit was also good for a laugh or two at the expense of your opponent. However the blood and gore needed a code to activate it, which I will tell you in the cheats section. This was also one of the first titles to start carrying a rating on it. Initiated at the request of countless self-appointed watchdog groups and whiny house-fraus with far too much time on their hands.
Graphics were decent. They weren't a perfect clone of the arcade version, but they were still good enough. I actually liked the Genesis version's graphics better as the Super Nintendo version looked all misty as though you're playing the game while drunk.
Sound-The music and most of the grunt and groan sounds were pretty much there and the Genesis did a good job with it. Some of the stupid stuff like the gong after you chose something on the menu screen were gone, but oh well.
Gameplay was good. The game could be played using both the three and six button controller. The moves in this game were a lot easier than the moves in Street Fighter 2.
Best Cheats: To unlock the blood enter: A,B,A,C,A,B,B at the Code of Honor screen.
