Synopsis: This was my favorite SMB game. It was different. Instead of killing enemies by jumping on top of them, you kill them by throwing and hitting them with stuff. You can pluck potions and vegetables out of the ground. You can kill enemies by throwing vegetables, mushroom blocks, keys, other enemies, etc.
Unlike the original SMB, when you die, you start out big. You can pluck potions out of the ground. Throw the potions to create doors. Open the doors and you can find mushrooms. The mushrooms allow you to take more hits before you die. If you find no mushrooms, you die after taking two hits. With the mushrooms, you die when you take three or four hits.
One thing that sucked about this game was that it only has twenty levels. The original SMB had thirty-two. On SMB 2 you must make your way through seven worlds. Every world has three levels except the final world. World seven only has two levels.
You can play as One of four characters. Mario, Luigi, Toad, and Princess Peach. Mario is probably the best character to play as. Luigi can jump the highest but he wobbles when he moves and it makes him difficult to control. Princess Peach can hover for a couple of seconds after she jumps. Toad can't jump as high as the others but he's fast.
You must fight two mice bosses, a crab boss, a fire boss, etc.
Instead of pipes, there are vases. You can go down the vases and underground. There are a few vases that you can't go down. They are the Warp World vases. Find a potion, throw it, create a door, go through the door and down the same vase while on the other side of the door. These vases will take you to Worlds 4,5,and 6.
This was a good game and now you can buy it for the Game Boy Advance as well.
