Title: Phoenix
Author:Centuri and Atari
Rom Player: Stella
Reviewer: Randy Johnson

Synopsis: I got Phoenix for a Christmas present way back in 1983. The arcade version was made by centuri. This version was made by Atari.
This game was very good to be for the Atari 2600. It has all five of the screens. That was very impressive for the 2600. On the first screen you fight warbirds. On screen#2 you fight more warbirds. They're identical to the first warbirds except they're a different color. On screens three you shoot larger blue Phoenix birds. On screen#4 you shoot the same Phoenix birds but they are pink instead of blue. On the fifth and final screen you battle the Mothership.
This was one of the better Atari 2600 games but it did have disappointments. On the first two screens you shoot less warbirds than on the arcade. On the 3rd and 4th screens there's only seven phoenix birds. The arcade had eight. Also, the Phoenix birds start as birds and not as eggs. I always thought it was fun to watch the eggs hatch into Phoenixes. Finally, the Mothership isn't protected by warbirds.
I was puzzled to see that Atari put a planet directly beneath your ship. On the arcade you're not at a planet. You're in space. Atari should've made their ship be in space too.
If you collect old Atari 2600 games, buy Phoenix.
I've also wrote a review on the arcade version of Phoenix.
