Title: Gorf

Synopsis: About twenty to twenty-two years ago, I used to play Gorf at a department store. This Gorf game only gave two lives per game, but I was glad of that. My mom would give my big brother and I a quarter to play a game. My brother always took two lives and left me with the last man. Since Gorf only gave two lives, we both only got one life each.
An impressive thing about Gorf was that it talked. It had five screens. They were Astro Battles, Laser Attack, Galaxian, Space warp, and the Flag ship.
Astro Battles was almost identical to Space Invaders. When you began a game, a red Gorf creature dropped three rows of invaders. If you shot the Gorf creature before it finished dropping the invaders, the rest of the invaders were dropped anyway. Your ship was protected by a large, but thin shield. When you fired, the shield would disappear for a second to let your shot through.
On Laser Attack you must shoot several ships. Only two or three of them could fire, but their laser blasts were long and deadly. It was wise to shoot them first while they stood still.
The third screen was identical to Galaxian. It was even called Galaxian. You had to shoot at the Galaxians as they flew over the screen and fired at you.
Screen#4 was called Space Warp. You had to shoot enemies that started far away but got closer and closer.
The final screen was the Flagship. The Flagship was protected by a large, but thin shield as well. You had to dodge the Flagship's fire, blast through the shield, and blast at the flagship until it exploded.
When the Flagship was destroyed, you started back at the Astro battles screen at a higher skill level.
I've also written a review about the Colecovision Gorf. Unfortunately it wasn't very favorable.
This game was fun and was neat because it talked. I give it an eight.
