Synopsis: To the best of my knowledge, Wolfenstein 3D and Doom were the only first person shooters that were made for the SNES. The PC version was made by Id. This version was made by Imagineer.
Wolfenstein 3D was one of the best games for the SNES. But if you play the SNES Wolfenstein right after you play the 3DO Wolfenstein, you'll feel sick.
I think it's impressive that Wolfenstein 3D was made for the SNES, but the graphics sucked. But the graphics of a 16-bit first person shooter would have to suck. Especially since they didn't even have to use an FX chip like with Doom.
In Wolfenstein 3D you must fight Nazis. You start with a pistol and can get other weapons. You can get a rocket launcher, a flamethrower, a machine gun, etc. If you run out of ammo for every weapon, you have a knife to fight with. You also must find keys to unlock certain doors.
When my brother bought the SNES Wolfenstein 3D in 1994, I thought it was odd that the Nazis spoke English. They yelled "Halt!" and "Stop!". I later learned that the Nazis spoke in German on the Computer and 3DO versions.
There are two things that I really hate about the SNES Wolfenstein 3D. The Nazis didn't bleed. Back then, Nintendo had a no blood policy. The second thing I hate was that they replaced the attack dogs with mutant rats.
There was one really stupid thing about this game. They didn't give Hitler a mustache in his paintings. Was it too much trouble for Imagineer to give him a mustache? This made the game less authentic.
At the very end of this game, you must fight Hitler. If you kill him, you win the game. I give the SNES Wolfenstein 3D a 5.
Best Cheats: Invincibility=Press B,Up,B,A at the map screen.
