Synopsis: How many of you first looked at this game and could SWEAR that Link from the Zelda series had fallen into ancient Greece?
Battle Of Olympus is a side-scroller ala Zelda II (but minus the overhead map) In this game you travel all over ancient Greece, seeking out the various Gods and treasures of the land in order to save your lady fair from the clutches of the lord of the Underworld, Hades (who in this game is a shadow.. sorry for the spoiler, but do you smell "Zelda II Ripoff" even more?)
The story is your typical "Save The Damn Princess" fare, except we're throwing in GODS, here, people. And Zeus will put a lightning bolt up your butt if you make fun of him. A nice touch to this game is that you MUST bow down to have the Gods talk to you.
Graphics are standard NES fare, looking neither spectacular nor shitty, but it does look decent enough. You might find yourself cursing those very same Gods once you hit Peloponesius ("God dammit, Zeus, why the hell is this maze so aggravating") It wasn't TOO hard, but being partially colorblind can REALLY hurt your chances of getting thru this maze the first time.
All in all, it is a pleasant little game, worth spending a few hours' time. But I would suggest that you spend some time reading the strategy guide online, otherwise you'll be beating yourself in the face with your keyboard ("What in DEAR GOD'S NAME AM I SUPPOSED TO DO NEXT?!?") If you like challenges, this one's for you.
