Synopsis: The sequel to the original Goonies for the NES, Goonies 2 maintains the same style of platform gaming, but is now a quest game rather than one divided into stages. The goal is simple: Help Mikey rescue the other Goonies and a mermaid at the end. Right off the bat, you get to hear the NES version of Cyndi Lauper’s “The Goonies ‘r Good Enuff.” Fortunately, the rest of the music is not too shabby either. Among your enemies are snakes and spiders as well as jumping thugs and thug midgets at first, and then crazy things like knights and winged skeletons. The weapons range from your starting weapon, the yo-yo, to Molotov cocktails and a boomerang, which is useful, but is almost always taken from you by one of the in-game enemies. On a side note, this has to be my second favorite game in which you can punch old people (After getting hit, they say, “Ow! What do you do?”).
