Title: Zombie Nation
Author:Meldac/Live Planning

Synopsis: Now this is one weird-ass game. The story is that of another end-of-the-world style event that happens in the late 90’s. This time, a seemingly harmless meteorite crashes in the “Nevada desert” and lets loose an alien named Darc Seed. This guy uses electromagnetic rays to, somehow, turn the population into zombies, animate the statue of liberty, and take possession of a powerful magic sword called the Shura. Namakubi, a long dead samurai warrior, learns of the sword’s capture and sends a “fierce holographic representation of his head” to save everybody and stop Darc Seed. You control that head. I’m not making this up, just look at the quotes I pulled out of the manual. Apparently, LSD was really big in Japan around the time this game was made. According to manual, the only way to save everyone is to “destroy everything in sight including buildings, mountains, oil refineries, weapons, renegade zombie soldiers, and any other creatures that are doing his evil bidding.” That spells out good fun for a side-scrolling game like this, but it makes me wonder if the Japanese were just trying to get kids to want to blow up the U.S. As a giant flying head, you attack by shooting eyeballs and explosive vomit all over the place. Blowing up said buildings also lets you rescue people, thus letting you exude more vomit and shoot more eyeballs than before. Despite the powerful weirdness emanating from this game, it is fun to play. You start with plenty of life, but unfortunately, there are lightning bolts and other similar things that knock your health down to nothing the instant you touch them. The sound through this trippy game is decent, with good music and lots of explosions. The graphics are not too shabby as well. This game is friggin’ nuts, but is definitely worth playing.
Best Cheats: Reenergize - When low on energy, press Start to pause the game, then press Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B and A. Then press Start to unpause the game, and your energy meter will be filled. You can do this once per game.
