Title: Dragon Warrior (review #5)
Author:Enix
Rom Player: NESticle
Reviewer: VolCanon

Synopsis: You don’t even need to play this game to know that whoever translated it was a retard: In Japan, this game was named Dragon Quest. Basically the story is that Edrick (who somehow sounds enough like Loto for the translator's tastes), died and you have to find a bunch of Ed's stuff and then go kill a pixilated dragon. You can thank Nintendo for turning a bad game into an utter pile of crap.
Game Play - 1
95% of the game is leveling up. Wow, what fun it is to kill a donkey 400 times to go up one level, only to find that you still can’t do anything. The game tries to simulate darkness in caves, but gives you zero line of sight without a "torch" or illumination spell. Instead of you seeing the passages you are in, though, you see in a radius. What kind of logic is that? The characters are rather cryptic, even more so than in the Japanese version (which I have played, me knowing it).
Graphics - 2
I give it 2 because they were slightly improved over the Japanese Dragon Quest; they added shoreline graphics. Everything on maps is 8x8 blocks and while in towns, you see roofs and a bird's eye view; you don’t see character's heads. You see their bodes as if they were right in front of you. If you think about it, that’s ridiculous.
Music - 2
Entirely beeps. The "music", of which there are about 4 different tracks, repeats after about 5 seconds.
Originality - 8
It IS original, setting the stage for decent, playable Dragon Quest games like 3-6.
