Title: Dragon Fighter
Author:Sofel

Synopsis: This game is interesting. When I first played the game, I thought I was trying to kill dragons, strangely enough, you don't seem to fight ANY dragons. I haven't beaten the game, so my guess is that the last boss in the game is a dragon, either that, or they are talking about the main character, who is capable of turning into a dragon (Editor’s note: I think that has something to do with the name…) after beating enough enemies with his sword. The first level is an ice level, and ice levels are pretty cool, but the level's enemies consist of some sort of green yetis throwing snowballs at you or charging at you and snow flakes. Your guy gets hurt when he gets hit by snowflakes for some reason, which drop randomly from the sky and try to hit your character. When your character whacks enough of these green yetis and snowflakes, you are capable of turning into a dragon. When you are a dragon, you can fly (pretty obvious), you are stronger, and can shoot stuff. I say stuff because what you shoot depends on the power upgrade you've gotten. I've gotten three different dragons, a Red, a Blue, and a Blue-Green type dragon. I don't remember what the Blue and Red dragons do, but the Blue-Green dragon fires three shots, one right, one 45 degrees up right, and one 45 degrees down right. You are not allowed to turn around when you are a dragon (you always face right), but the game is slightly easier when you are a dragon.

Game Play: 9 out of 10
I give it 9 out of 10 because the controls are good, the only thing missing is the ability to make the dragon face left, but other than that, I find that the character responds very well to your commands. There is also a charge up attack, you hold the swing attack and your character will glow, when released he will shoot an energy ball.

Graphics: 7 out of 10
The graphics are ok, but there is really nothing I actually WANT to look at, the fact the guy seems to be wearing no pants sort of scares me and I still have to figure out what the green-yeti guys are. On the other hand, its not as bad as Hydlide or what not, where you never want to turn the game on again because the graphics are that horrible.

Music: 10 out of 10
It may not be that good, (well for you), but I really like the song for the first level, I think the only NES songs that beat are Megaman 2's Wily Song, and Megaman 3's Snakeman. The first song is very catchy, and sounds familiar, I would actually be glad if anyone can tell me what it sounds like.

Originality: 8 out of 10
This is probably where Ryu of the Breath of Fire Series came from. A guy with a sword that is capable of turning into a dragon, sound familiar? I gave it such a high rating because it is old. The second boss is also pretty common, it’s a worm that goes into holes and comes out and tries to attack you. Probably the most common boss, and just for reference:
Megaman X3: Tunnel Rhino
Terranigma: The Ra Tree boss
Super Metroid: In Maridia (not sure, I believe so)
Megaman X: Launch Octopus (The dragon mech I believe)
Link to the Past: Desert Palace Boss Light World

That’s just a few references, but since this game comes before most of those, that is why the high originality. Another common thing is the charge up attack, pretty common (mainly in the Megaman series, starting with 4), but nothing to bad.

Overall Rating: 9 out of 10
The game is great, it can be difficult if you are a slow player, but it is VERY fun and is worth playing. I still have yet to beat it though.

Best Cheats: I read that there is a code given to you at the end of the game, but I don't know what it does.

The code is:AAAABBBBABABABAB
You press this at the title screen when it says "press start," the copy right words go red when it is put in properly. But again, I don't know what it does.

Graphics: 7
Music/Sound: 10
Originality: 8
Overall Rating: 9
