Title: Duck Tales 2
Author:Capcom
Rom Player: NESticle
Reviewer: Matt M. Koopa
Synopsis: Nobody can milk a franchise like Capcom. If it's a fighting, platform, or horror, it's going to make a lot of cash.
But back in the late 80's, early 90's, Capcom and Disney were fucking each other in bed because Disney wanted to make video games on some of their most popular cartoons at that time. Capcom made Tail Spin, Chip N' Dale: Rescue Rangers, and Duck Tales. Needless to say, Duck Tales was one of my favorite Disney games. It was about Scrooge McDuck, a rich fuck who wanted more money. WHY? Because his rival, Flimhart Gloomgold (I thing that's his name.) (Editor’s note: Flinthart Glomgold) was getting more cash then he was. So Scrooge and his nephews (including Webby, that whiny little bitch and Ms. Beakly and Launchpad) went to five locations that have five $1,000,000 prizes. Scrooge gets the goodies, kicks his rival's ass, and we live happily ever after.
Duck Tales was so popular that Capcom needed a follow-up to the game, so they do their thing: recycle the game play, make better graphics, a different story, and you have Duck Tales 2.
Now before I begin, I'll have a +/-/= score. + means it's better then Duck Tales, - means it's crappier then Duck Tales and = means there more of the same. Now onto the review!
Game Play: 9(+)
The game play is similar to the first game; you walk, jump, hop on a pogo stick and get diamonds for cash. Well nothing has changed, but some things have.
First is you pogo stick, it let's you jump higher, it gets rid of boxes and chests and let's you cross spikes. But in the game, Gyro (that loony inventor from the show) gives your pogo cane new features, like giving it the feature of getting rid of metal boxes or other stuff, but that's just the start.
Huey, Dewey and Louie (and Webby) are back, giving you useless hints about the game. Gyro (which I talked about above) gives you the new features and that's about it for the character from DT. The rest are made up.
Now onto the levels: you go though five like the last one. Except they take place around the world. You go to Niagra Falls, Egypt, a Scotland castle, a sunken ship, and another one I forgot (Editor’s note: an island). You jump around destroying boxes containing diamonds from $2,000-$10,000, and a whooping $50,000! The more you collect, the better the ending...or not. You have to get five pieces of a map that leads the big one, but they’re well hidden.
Another big addition to DT 2 is the shop where you can spend you hard earned money on helpful items. But it's not much of a addition.
Graphics: 10 (+)
In short...WOW!!! This is NES graphics?!! It is, the graphics made good use of the NES's power, things move in the background this time around, like waterfalls and candles. Scrooge and company look just like the cartoon and baddies are well done. The fucking diamonds shine as well, but the baddies don't make a funny face after being ass-wiped. :(
Music: 8 (=)
Their is some catchy music in this game. But it’s nothing that important, but the Egypt music is catchy!
Originality: 7 (+)
It's better then the Duck Tales story:
One of the nephews find a piece a torn map. Scrooge remembers his grandfather telling him about a great thing that is found with this map. But someone ripped it up. Well that sucks because Scrooge wanted to get it right away. But I'm getting too lazy to tell you the rest of the story.
Overall: 10
Fucking great! Get it now!
Best Cheats: Nothing Entered
Game Play: 9
Graphics: 10
Music/Sound: 8
Originality: 7
Overall Rating: 1
