Title: Dragon Warrior
Author:Enix
Rom Player: RockNes
Reviewer: Naghi

Synopsis: The land is swarming with monsters, the evil Dragonlord has kidnapped the princess and threatens to overtake the kingdom. As the only descendant of the legendary hero Erdrick, it is up to you to slay the monsters and save the damsel in distress. Earn experience and gold in battles to make your character strong enough to survive. Sounds like your typical RPG plot right? Well, this game is the reason why. Released in America in 1989, it was an innovative leap in gameplay and (possibly) the first true 'console' RPG. I know it probably sounds corny, but I was blown away by the graphics when I first saw this game. What amazed me even more was how incredibly vast the game's world was, with a number of towns, castles, and dungeons it seemed hard to grasp. The gameplay wasn't perfect, but it didn't have any glaring problems either. The battles take place in a first person perspective, and you choose between Fight, Magic, Item, and Run. Ah simplicity. The music was a bit repetitive, but then again, with the exception of very few games, all the NES music sounded repetitive. At the time, all of the games I had ever played were either shoot'em ups, beat'em ups, or sports games. Terms like Hp, Mp, and Exp were totally alien to me. What's this? My character gets stronger the more battles he fights? Sweet. Mind you, I didn't have a computer until the mid 90's, so this was the very first RPG I had ever played. It's also the game that got me hooked on RPG's. Most qualities of all 'console' RPG's can be traced back to one or two games, this being one of them. While it may be a bit short compared to some of the games out today, it's still fun and that's what counts. What's more, if graphics and sound quality really matter that much to you there's a remix available for the SNES, although at this time it's only partially translated.

Best Cheats: Hmm... none that I'm aware of.
