Synopsis: First off I have to say that I was shocked that you haven’t written a review for this awesome game. SHAME SHAME SHAME. Because when I see one of my all time favorite games ignored, it really pisses me off so I, Jeff_The_Ninja, has taken it upon himself to write a review for this AWESOME game for the NES.
In Adventure Island, you play a cave dude in a baseball hat. I don’t know his name so he will be known as Pedro, Pedro the loin-cloth wearing Mexican. Now Pedro has a quest to go on. I don’t know what it is exactly but i guess it is important seeing as how the animals give him rides and all. So where does all of this animal riding take place? Why on adventure island of course!!! Why it is an island full of adventure, so much adventure you will be forced to eat a baby at all of the adventure you will experience.
Plus the sounds are pretty decent, even though the music is repetitive as shit. And the enemies are some of the strangest you would see on any game. Evil snails, and Flying Octopi!!! And that’s just in the first level! Plus it has a bit of difficulty to it too so as to adds some replay value to this game.
Pedro also has a variety of items to aid him in his quest. All of which are found in giant eggs. You got a hammer as your first powerup and it proves to be invaluable, plus you have a skateboard. Seriously, Pedro has Skillz that put Tony Hawk to shame. Pedro controls well with no problems what so ever. The controls are tight and responsive and that’s all you really need. Plus it looks great for a Nes Launch title, with all of the sprites Nicely animated and drawn.
Overall, I would say that this game is one of the best for the NES and it deserves all of the recognition it can possibly get. And even tough its old, it doesn’t mean it’s not good. So overall it’s a Great Download and an even better buy. So go forth Pedro and Complete the quest handed to you by the execs at Hudson Soft.
