Title: Incredible Hulk, The
Rom Player: Gens
Reviewer: Zomboid

Synopsis: Games based on comics are almost always at least decent, so it's no surprise that this is.

There isn't much of story for this game...You just play through each level, beating bosses. There's about 4 levels total and they're all pretty easy.

The health is measured in a bar at the top of the screen. There are 4 different colors in the bar and they get darker as they go down. When you lose enough health, you turn into Bruce Banner. He can crawl around and avoid a lot of enemy fire and can get to places the hulk can't. The controls are pretty basic but there are a few moves you'll need to figure out on your own. Since you're the hulk, you can do some pretty cool things to your enemies, like squeezing them 'till they burst or hurling them up at the ceiling. Unfortunately, the common enemies (the ones who aren't bosses) are all robots or stone guys, so no blood. There are a few different pick-up items to be found and they do different things. There's a special pill that lets you "hulk out". It increases your power bar to the limit and lets you do the best moves. There's certain things you can destroy and then pick up the pieces from to restore some health. The enemies are all pretty simple and they're pretty much the same on every level. The bosses are a little harder but all have a pattern you can learn easily enough.

The graphics are decent. The enemies look all right and the bosses are pretty cool. The way you can kill your enemies is cool too. There's 4 or 5 levels and each has a different setting but you'll basically be seeing the same stuff over and over again for each level.

Music's not bad, although I turn it off a lot and just listen to something else. The sounds are alright, and there's a sound and music test in the options menu.

Game Play: 6
It's a simple game but it's pretty fun if you're a hulk fan or even a fan of the genre.

Graphics: 5
Average graphics. This game wasn't made near the end of the genesis' run so it's not like it's anything special.

Sound: 5
Average. If you play the game with the volume up too much the music of some levels will annoy the hell outta you.

Originality: 6
It's your average platform game but it's got some cool things in it, like the "hulk out" thing.

Overall: 6
Decent game, but nothing special and you won't really wanna keep coming back for more.

Best Cheats: Look for some yourself.
