WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

- No monthly fee
- Runs on pretty much anything
- Runs fantastically
- Very little lag
- Fucking beautiful
- Only place other players exist are in your parties or in towns
- Don't need to physically buy a copy - If you can download the game, you can buy an account online through the software. Then, you get a downloader that downloads each new area you come to (once).
- I-Mockery guild is Veteran Vagrants [VETS], led by Pop N Ko (me). Whisper me for an invite. We have a cape, but no guild hall yet.

----------

JIN* has arrived at Guild Wars with Chojin, and they will play TOMORROW.

Until then, here are some pictures of this really gorgeous game.

From my HUMBLE BEGINNINGS AND GREEN JUMPSUIT.

http://www.popnko.com/GW/apples.jpg

Why, hello there! Don't mind me, I've just been picking these delicious apples!

http://www.popnko.com/GW/traipsing.jpg

Now for a lovely stroll in the woods! Lo, lo, lo-lo!

http://www.popnko.com/GW/merriment.jpg

Dances are class and gender specific, I believe. I wouldn't know, because sad homosexual goths don't dance.

After this point, Ascalon was overtaken by the Charr and burnt to the ground in an event called the Searing. Everything from here on is post-searing. (Game events progress linearly, though other players in similar parts of the story can play with you)

http://www.popnko.com/GW/ascalonsky.jpg

AND LO, THE SKIES OF ASCALON WERE BATHED IN THE RICHEST BURNT SIENNAS IN THE CRAYOLA BIG BOX. WHY SETTING A TOWN ON FIRE TURNS THE SKY THIS COLOR IS BEYOND ME, BUT FUCK IF IT DOESN'T BECOME DEPRESSING AFTER A WHILE.

http://www.popnko.com/GW/ascalon.jpg

Ascalon district 1. Fellating other players is entirely optional. I'd like to note that moving in towns is really easy and lag-free for some reason. And that there are no monthly fees, yet this somehow works better.

HOT WHEELS LEADING THE WAY!

http://www.popnko.com/GW/group.jpg

GRR

http://www.popnko.com/GW/lakefront.jpg

Notice the ultra sexy reflection of the opposing hill in the water. It does the same for enemies and players. The engine for this game is killer, and I never experience slowdown, even with full detail on.

http://www.popnko.com/GW/highlevel.jpg

This is a level 20 Necromancer I was running with. 20 is the level cap, and he wasn't too too much better than me. There is no grind in this game. You choose either a story (RP) or a PVP character - RP characters start at level 1, PVP at 20. Playing an RP character leads you through the plotline and unlocks skills, items, and runes for use with your PVP characters. RP characters can also engage in PVP, although only at Arenas and Guildhalls. Reason being, every time you leave town, you get a private copy of the rest of the world to run around in that only you and your party members can exist in. There's no spawn camping, no being queer. You can even hire NPC henchmen to accompany you if you hate other players as much as I tend to. Dying reduces the effectiveness of your skills by a certain percent, which is worked off with experience or by going into town. Moving from town to town is instantaneous with map travel, but will cause you to leave your group (though there's nothing stopping you from agreeing to meet up again in the same district and regrouping). Think I got all the basics out of the way.

http://www.popnko.com/GW/lunimaria.jpg

Someone else I grouped with.

http://www.popnko.com/GW/outpost.jpg

Small outpost town.

http://www.popnko.com/GW/guildhall.jpg

Outside my guildhall. Guilds with guildhalls can fight each other in these special locations. Or you can just sit back and sip a long island ice tea while looking at all the pretty scenery.

I got this cheap at work yesterday, so I brought it home. I've never played a MMOROPOROROGG before, so I don't know how it measures up to World of Wacraft or City of heroes, but I'm having fun. I'm a bit confused abut everything though, especially the guilds. I'm in one, but I don't know what good it's doing me or if I'm supposed to do anything about it.

EDIT: Oops, didn't read that last comment. Still confused, though. I feel like an old man with a new toy.

Chojin
Jun 10th, 2005, 05:01 PM
It's really not an MMORPG. It's more like Diablo 2, where there was a lobby and you agreed to play a game with a few other people. The difference being, each of these towns acts like a 'lobby.' The tradeoff is that you can't meet people in the wilderness and have them steal your shit, kill you, and take your stuff in exchange for no monthly fees and a lag-free experience. I personally favor the exchange. The only thing you're missing out on is watching people run around and possibly ganking one while they're out doing said run-arounds. Since those situations usually only result in one person having fun, it was a wise move on their part in my opinion.

Okay, here's what you can do when you join a guild:
- Access to guild channel which reaches everyone in your guild with it turned on that is online
- Access to people that will help you with quests/missions (this is really helpful since this game doesn't have a team searching feature like COH)
- If your guild leader spends 2 Plat (2000 Gold), everyone in the guild wears a cape of the leader's choosing
- If your guild wins some important PVP arena event (I forget which), you get a Guild Hall. Guild Halls are locations you travel to by map. In the hall are 4 level 20 NPC Henchmen who can help you on Guild Raids. You never want their help because they don't have any tactics and will be killed in short order. The Guild Hall area actually has two halls on opposite ends of an island, with a dock and small outpost town inbetween. When you do a Guild War, the other Guild starts at the other fort and then you run at each other and hug and pick flowers and watch the sunset together.

Fun shit you can do: The minimap in the upper right lets you draw on it football-commentator style. You can use this to show lost teammates how to navigate a particularly gay area or to coordinate advanced flanking maneuvres. Last night we were on a mission to take an urn from some Charr, but we had all died ridiculous amounts of time and were down to 40% skills, health, and energy, so we were drawing football-style patterns to distract and run past the 20+ kitties guarding this thing. The game definitely encourages creativity and I'll always love it for that.

For the record, though, I find combat in COH to be more interactive and fun. Playing Guild Wars in PVP is way, way more wieldy though as it's easier to figure out what the classes (and combinations thereof, since multiclassing is all but required) are capable of and build a strategy around that. Also, since you are restricted to using 8 pre-chosen skills in combat zones, it streamlines the process and adds more strategy to it. I don't see myself playing it for longer than COH, but this game really is a masterpiece for what it's supposed to be. It hasn't crashed on me once yet and the engine runs flawlessly.

I always wondered how this looks better than Warcraft, but runs smoother on high than on WoW's Medium settings.

I'll definnantly pick it up, if only to feed the D2.

Their graphics engine is nothing short of incredible. It looks fantastic, it runs like a dream. It reminds me a LOT of the Fable graphics engine in terms of cloth movement and lighting effects (white things glow in hard light).

GW - This game really should run on just about anything. My compy can't run COH in full detail at all, but it can run this with full detail and anti-aliasing with no problem. A lower setting should work just fine. And no monthly fees, and then you can join my guild and get other people to join by being female.

I don't think you can join an American guild if you're from Europe. I could be wrong, though. [This is wrong. --Editor]

Anyway, this game is Diablo II all over again, and I'm enjoying the heck out of it. I just quit my guild and joined one that's just starting out, let me know if any Europeans want in.

ziggytrix
Jun 11th, 2005, 02:23 AM
So are there not specific servers then, since everything is instanced? If I buy this game do I have to worry about choosing between playing on RL friends vs online friends choice of server? Cuz that's the most damned annoying thing about WoW. :(

jin
Jun 11th, 2005, 04:17 AM
This game is okay. ;>

There is no server choice, and all you have to do is click a drop down list whenever you're in a town to change to a different region server. ;O

No choosing who you like better ;>

And i love the graphics way more than wow, though wow feels more robust. i don't know what that means ;/

And anyone not in america and maybe europe will get some lag, you'll be walking somewhere and be ported back about ten steps- a minor annoyance that they are working to fix in the next patch i think ;0

I think this is a cost-justified game choice ;>

Oh man, an I-Mockery guild would be awesome, but I'll have to check the international district to make sure it won't lag. Plus, my little guild and myself went shopping for capes yesterday and everything and I don't want to bail. Like Natialia Imbruglia, I am torn.

JIN switched his country to US because the servers here are better than Europe's anyway. But yes, internationals can join US guilds and vice versa. Intl Districts run the same basically as US ones.

PS. I had a look around, and i don't think you can get it online. Only boxed ;0

pjalne
Jun 11th, 2005, 12:43 PM
I think so too. I think you need a hard-copy certificate, which is included in the box.

Can you change your country without reinstalling? I'm still not sure I want to due to the time difference being about eight hours, but teaming up with guys from this board sounds really cool. Especially if Chojin decides who stays and goes.

One question, though, and a spoiler for you who haven't played it: After the first major quest, two years passed and everything went all different. Does anyone know if this will happen again? That would kind of suck, since the chapters will separate people. I kinda get the feeling the first bit was a bit of a kindergarden, though. Sort of a training grounds so you'll have to know the basics to enter the grown-up world.

Oh, and I'm Per Arne.

Yes, you go to options on the title screen and you can change your country there.

The scarring is the only event like that. In the game, there are quests and missions. Quests are side items and missions advance the storyline. The scarring is your first mission and it takes you out of newbie town. Future missions will allow you access to new areas, but you can still play with your friends and stuff and go back to those early zones. Guild Halls are entirely seperate and can be gone to at any time.

pjalne
Jun 11th, 2005, 01:58 PM
All right, I figured out how to change country. I'm in Am-12 if anyone is up for adventure. I'm probably a bit behind you guys, though, I've only been doing this for a couple of days.

EDIT. Looks like this information is unnessecary before i even posted it ;p

And i just started today, so i doubt you're behind ;>

Well, the server territories are divided between European and American, and you can switch which set you'd rather use, although it's limited to 5 times. ;0

When you choose which set you want to use, then you can access the district servers for that territory and, whenever in a town, change between the different ones on that territory from a drop-down menu, kinda just different instances of the same place so it doesn't get too crowded. ;o

Also, you can always visit the international district instances without changing territories which contain anyone who chooses to use them- regardless the server set. ;>

To change which server set you use, when you log in just click "edit account" in the bottom left, then change territory. ;0

Chojin

Best prices are from players. But the best-kept secret at the searing level of the game is to load up on Charr hides, then give them to the collector in Ascalon City for 1 fur square per 4 hides. Then, you can sell those to the rare materials trader for 350-400 apiece or to players for a bit more.

Materials in general are very useful. Buy 3 belt pouches or bags from the merchant to expand your inv by 15 slots (when you get money, you can get expansion runes from the merchants to add 5 slots to a bag/pouch). Also, take 2 salvage kits and 1 identify kit with you every time you leave town (and 1 expert salvage if you are rich like me ha ha am i right). Then, salvage everything you can't use, and it'll drop into a material type (swords turn into 1-4 iron ingots, etc.) Although there are a lot of material types, after you fill your 15 extra slots with those, salvaging crap will cause it to drop the materials into one of those 15 types, so you end up saving space. Materials are valuable as shit, too (in quantity), and you need them to have armor crafted for you. Don't sell weapons and armor to traders unless you can't salvage it and no-one else would ever want it.

Guitar Woman

Pentium 3, 500 MHZ processor, 8 MB graphics card, 290 MB of RAM, and all the game specs set to minimum. ;_;

Chojin
Jun 14th, 2005, 07:35 PM
The graphics card is your biggest hangup here (although a processor that slow is abysmally bad as well, not having a passable video card is dumping the workload onto said shitty processor). Get a Radeon 9600 SE for $70 (if you have AGP). Also, you can upgrade to a better processor in the Pentium III line for well under $100.

Radeon 9600 SE ($70, AGP): http://www.allstarshop.com/shop/simprod.asp?pid=8508&ad=pwatch

Pentium III 866 mhz CPU ($25): http://www.starmicro.net/detail.aspx?ID=91

You'll need an AGP slot for the Radeon, and I'd double-check with AChimp to see if you can install that CPU; Your motherboard might have certain limitations. Since your computer is old enough to possibly not have an AGP slot, here's a PCI radeon:

Radeon 9250 SE ($49.50, PCI): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102522&CMP=OTC-pr1c3watch&ATT=Video+Cards

PCI doesn't run as fast as AGP, but it's a start.

MetalMilitia
Jun 14th, 2005, 07:43 PM
Chuck the lot and start again. You could get a much more powerful computer for around £350-400 (not including monitor, CDROM, Case and all the useable stuff like that .).

Heck even getting an old socket A motherboard, 1Ghz Duron, 256mb of PC2100 ram and a GF4MX440 would be a start.

Chojin
Jun 14th, 2005, 07:47 PM
It would, but most of us don't like spending 4 times what any gaming console would cost. Whereas my way, she spends closer to $70.

MetalMilitia
Jun 14th, 2005, 07:50 PM
But your way sucks because something else will bottleneck the whole system anyway.

It might be worth getting an AGP card as that could be transferred into a new system but old P3 systems often are missing an AGP slot.

It might be worth getting an AGP card as that could be transferred into a new system but old P3 systems often are missing an AGP slot.
Which is why I suggested a processor upgrade and a PCI card. Are you retarded or something?

All right, so that was a successful night. Helm and I made it to Yak's Bend.

http://www.popnko.com/GW/irresistible.jpg

But along the way, we picked up some Canadian anime-obsessed water Elementalist. Going into the mission, I made some comment about not touching the lever that opens the gates and brings DEATH TO ALL and he called me a 'baka'. His nickname from that point on was 'anime' and Helm and I asked him if, by any chance, he fenced. At one point, I was forced to calm down a heated situation with the phrase, "Blow me, sailor moon." After the mission, he left the group and wandered around town, so we followed him around and generally just hung out, asking questions like "So, what's in the storage box?" "Getting anything good?" "Oh yeah, I got some great shit from this guy." "Oh man, you're not gonna take that from him, are you?" and "Did you ever think Goku was hot when his hair turned yellow and he got all muscley? Cause I didn't. I'm just asking."

But then he made the mistake of advancing threateningly at Helm, who responded the only way Greeks know how.

http://www.popnko.com/GW/intimidation.jpg

Notice how hard he's trying to not make eye contact. Farewell, our Canadian anime-obsessed bigoted brilliant engineer. You will never be forgotten.

ON TO TOWN.

WELCOME TO YAK'S BEND, JEANETTE X!

http://www.popnko.com/GW/yak.jpg

No one is sure how Yak's Bend got its name, though local speculation is that it was the location at which Prince Rurik bent a Yak. But I'm pretty sure that's just a rumor, because let me tell you, these fuckers have spines of IRON.

Helm left and I hooked up with one of my friends I met through the game. NAOKI FABULOUS.

By the way, eggyolk is a tremendous faggot for leaving the guild and will be banned shortly for it. THAT IS ALL.

Oh man, I was hoping I would be able to join you guys yesterday, but the mission I was doing took twice as long as planned and just took the wind out of me so, I had to call it quits. Me and another guy were doing the Rurik quest, and somehow a dumb AND French guy came with us. He had no comprehension of the English language, and I don't know how many times we would be yelling "DUDE, DON'T GO ANOTHER FUCKING STEP, IF YOU CHARGE DOWN THERE RURIK WILL BE KILLED" before he would get the general idea. He'd run five steps, stop, listen to our protests, run five more steps, see how we reacted, run five more steps and so on. He was like a damn dog who knew he was misbehaving, but just couldn't help himself running over to the big dirty puddle. A dog who could write "ith dowen her, non bonus."

Also, in the following cutscene, a charr somehow made it through the gate and was pummeling my backside all the way through Rurik's speech.

That dance taunt picture is great.

JIN* X CHOJIN SLASH (NON-)FICTION:

http://www.popnko.com/GW/bashful2.jpg

Again we meet here, in private. In secret. Our erstwhile lives of nobility and honor reduced to a cloak-and-dagger rendezvous at the twilight hour!

http://www.popnko.com/GW/hands.jpg

How shameful it is! I can feel the steely gaze of my father upon us as we join our hands in union!

Nay - We shall not give the fires that burn within our souls another moment's respite.

This electricity! Be it manifest or the cantrips of a sage? Nay! The conjurations of a thousand sorcerors are an ill match for the potency of this exchange!

http://www.popnko.com/GW/woe.jpg

The shame! It doth overwhelm me! To have stolen a kiss from one as fair as thee!

Nay, it is I who is unworthy! Fearing the will of our forebears, skulking from my home, fearing dishonor!

http://www.popnko.com/GW/lovers.jpg

From this moment forward, our union shall be spread henceforth throughout the land!

And I propose a method of consecrating this most auspicious of occasions!

http://www.popnko.com/GW/bashful.jpg

My word - Its slender form rivals of beauty of the finest Idol to Balthazar! It does leap at my touch, standing to attention as the proudest knight of Ascalon before its king! Pure as driven snow-

Okay, this game has one major downside: The people that play it. I have gone a full week now without meeting a single not-stupid person outside of the guild. However, since most of it is circumstantial stupidity (like Zydane Striffe and Legolas Aragorrn's (see what they did there) diabolical plot to waste an hour of our time), it's hard to capture in screenshot format. yesterday i was sitting in piken square when someone said "americas time is almost over as a first world country." then ofcourse being in an american server, shit started. also too many missions are ruined when complete dicks get on your team. in the shiverpeaks when you have to light the beacons, we finally got to the last beacon and the guy with the torch wouldnt light it because he was mad at another player and demanded that he leave, not completing the mission for himself. after 20 minutes the guy left and we completed it, but for some reason... it didnt seem fair :/

So I was lurching after him like Jason and said 'Do you have ANY IDEA HOW MUCH THAT HURTS?' Soon, he was cornered and i put my sword through his face.

And then we had this monk on our team that killed four people by himself.

Chojin
Jun 25th, 2005, 02:57 PM
Yeah, I'm talking about Elona. I almost finished it once just by running the second shard myself- You can dodge most of the dudes on the way, but there's one guy right within aggro radius of the 2nd crystal...Assuming it's over after you run the 2 shards back.

We need more people in the guild (we have 9 now, I think), but I insist they be competant and not jerks. So if anyone has a recommendation, let me know.

Finally got through Elona's with the help of a guide. That mission is deceptively easy when you know how to do it.

Now I'm stuck on thirsty, which is giving me quite the fuck of a problem. There was this dude named X Ichiban X or something who knew what he was doing, but after we failed he wanted me to kick the guy that drug our asses through the wastes to get there and I had to tell mister sXe ichi to fuck off ;_; So there you have it, I don't sacrifice my principles of non-dick-headedry, even for people on the internet who pretend to be girls and aren't too hot at playing.

One day, you can all hope to grow up to be like me.

Previously on X-Men, our leader invited this dude to the group named Bibiki Jack, whose greeting messages were 'gogogo gog og o' and 'gogogo go go go,' respectively. Despite my advisement, we went on the mission with him in tow.

http://www.popnko.com/GW/jack.jpg

There's this warrior warcry that gives you and your pals a few bonuses if you use it when someone in your group dies. It's an instant effect, so it's not like you can set it and let it cook for a battle while you wait for someone to drop. So naturally, this particular moron would charge at everything in sight while screaming "I WILL AVENGE YOU." Unfortunately for Jack, we would not avenge him by the end of the day.

Your guild might be way better at PVP, have more members, have a guild hall, and attain various other arbitary in-game measurements of worth. So, I thought I'd give the mission I'm stuck at another try. So I teamed up with Ben Affleck

and his idiot friends. After a crushing defeat I thought I'd give it another try, but Ben left and I was stuck with recruitment duty. There was only one monk in the area. This is pretty much how the conversation went:

Monk: Will join any group for 2K
Idiot temmate (on common channel): hey per arneget monky monk
Me: I would, but the cuntflap wants 2K. And you're talking in the common channel.
Idiot temmate (still on common channel): rly! :o thats bad
Me: Yeah, I know.

(Ten seconds pass)

Idiot temmate (guess which channel): hey perarne get monky monk hes monk!
Me: Yeah, that's the guy who wants 2K. You're still on the common channel.
Idiot temmate (well, you know): oh

We decided to switch district, where another teammate, Conn the Worrior, became team leader. I said there was no way we could do this without a monk, and asked him to recruit one. So he recruited a warrior. I told him that wasn't quite the kind of monk I was thinking about, and Conn fired him. Then he hired a ranger. Once again, I suggested that this might not be a monk either, and Conn kicked him off the team. Then he grabbed another warrior, entered the mission, and we all died within three minutes. I told them I was so displeased with them I would move to Europe, and I did.

Now I might have found the solution to my problem: German people.

http://tinypic.com/6g9a4x.jpg

True to stereotype, Germans are coordinated and effective, and almost never rush head-first into a pack of minotaurs.

http://tinypic.com/6g9ahj.jpg

They don't really mind my lackluster German skills or my occasional English, and we got all the way to the end of the mission.

http://tinypic.com/6g9b8g.jpg

But no further :(

Why not just do missions with the NPC healer? Granted, a whole party of NPCs is without coordination, but surely 1 or 2 to fill the gaps beats having to deal with a bunch of jackasses online.

Why does this game look like a contest to see who can make the most flamboyant characters and amusing screencaps the revolve around dancing? Sure, that's all good and fun, but I don't quite see a whole lot of "game" going on here. I could do the same thing with Barbie's Fashion Adventure and it would cost me less and I would encounter less idiots while playing it.

Speaking of which, it's nice to see the fact that the game has no monthly fees greatly increases the number of faggots you encounter when trying to play and enjoy your game. :( Not to say WoW doesn't have its share of dumb-dumbs, but at least the pay-to-play weeds out a good amount of retards.

Seriously, Chojin spent, like, an hour trying to sell me this game over WoW, and I was actually interested. But now that this thread is building up, I think you guys just destroyed anything positive he had to say about it. Talk about the game more, you asshats. >:

The game only goes up to level 20, and you can START at that level, according to Chojin.

You know, because working for things is for faggots.
You can start at level 20, but you won't have any skills. You unlock skills (spells, etc.) by playing through the story and learning them with your character. The best armor in the game (stat-wise) isn't hard to get, but there are really expensive and hard-to-find armors that - while having the same stats as the aforementioned armor - Look different and offer prestiege to someone willing to waste their lives on the game. Finally, PVP-only characters can't go to the Fissure Of Woe or Underworld to get some of the best weapons and items in the game. There's essentially 2 games here, a diablo-esque one and a sort of team deathmatch in medieval style.

But in general, a character that you build up from 1 will be better than a level 20 pvp-only character, because you unlock skills, weapon components, and runes. These characters can also look very different, as there are limited armor and color options for pvp-only characters. The hype for the game from the developers is that it's a game "meant to be enjoyed, not endured." I believe it lives up to it, and gives you something to work for with your story characters - When you get to level 20 and get ascension armor, then you move onto the completely different PVP game, or build up more characters to unlock more stuff for PVP.

PVP itself is more strategy-based than 'work for 2 months at making a character that you can then basically leave on its own to kill people.' Working through story mode and spending weeks getting the best items will certainly give you an edge over people who just get the skills they want and then make Level 20 PVP-Only chars, but if they're smart, they can still take you downtown to Chinatown. The game rewards dedication to it differently than MMOs, and in a fashion that doesn't ruin it for everyone else. For the casual gamers who make up 99% of the game's player base, that is a very good thing.

I'm griding in pre-sear right now so that I can be the toughest kid in newbietown. FOR KICKS.

So anyway, I found out something interesting. I was in the middle of a field when Emily called and wanted me to drive 40 minutes in the rain in rush hour traffic. I left Guild Wars on. When I come back, I find that I'm at a respawn point and an Ice Elemental is camping me every time I respawn. But here's the kicker - Ice Elementals are level 3, and this guy was level 6, meaning that he was getting XP from killing me and levelling up. When I finally met hammer to his face, I got 96xp from him, and I usually only get 16xp from these guys.

SO, THOSE OF YOU WHO WANT TO EXPERIMENT.

I recommend doing this with ice elementals because they're already level 3 and they appear close to the respawn zone. From Foible's Fair, go piss off the Stone Elementals on your left, and bring them up to the Academy monk. Then, run back down the path to the left to lure the Academy Monk away from the respawn zone (Othewise he'll just kill your Ice Elementals later. You'll have to waste a few stone elementals to get the Monk out of aggro range of the respawner). Now go down the path to the right, piss off an Ice Elemental, and slowly run back to the respawn. Let it kill you, then minimize the game and do something else. Wait a few hours (This time will be far less if you have someone high-ish level that can get killed, because the monster will get more XP for killing someone higher level. To make this completely efficient, get a class without a lot of hitpoints.). Then, kill the elemental and get your XP.

This is only really valuable if you're trying to maximize level in pre-sear - I've only done one quest, and that was to get my skills. After I stop getting XP from monstars, I can do all the quests to finish up my XP.

But theoretically, you could get to level 20 in pre-sear using this trick. Given a year or so.

Who here cares? Show of hands.

EXPERIMENT 1:

11:45 am - Level 3
12:00 pm - Level 4
12:15 pm - Level 5
12:32 pm - Level 5
1:55 pm - Level 8
2:20 pm - Level 8
2:54 pm - Level 9
3:48 pm - Level 10

Killing it at Level 10 netted me 136 XP (I'm level 8 with this character). Unfortunately, it dropped a collector's item instead of a weapon, so I don't know if levelling monsters improves their drops yet. Interestingly enough, the monster did no more damage at level 10 than 3, although its hitpoints did increase.

*ALSO: This may affect the quality of dropped items, which is exponentially more valuable. (Getting a max damage hammer in pre-sear would be jawsome.)

it's rather interesting, and I have noticed that monsters level up when fighting them. i suppose the reason the damage doesnt increase, even in skills is because the physical melee damage can be associated with a weapon and it is clear that they don't change weapons. For some reason, it appears that they also don't get anymore skill points with level ups.

I've also noticed that when you see a monster wielding some equipment, that monster tends to drop it. They also take on the features of that item, such as if it was carrying a +5 armor shield and every other monster was carrying a +2 armor shield, you would notice the damage difference on the two.

hope someone understands it :o

executioneer

Is there much to do after you hit 20? Cuz I got 3 levels left to go.

edit: I also don't think it's particularly short on content, it's just all so linear that you can blow thru what would be days worth of "content" in some other game that made you run all over the world to get a quest done.

Level 20 doesn't mean a lot, really - It just means that your skills are maxed (aside from attribute quests). It'd say at least a third of the game takes place after you hit level 20, assuming you didn't just run through missions.

All future GW expansions will have level 20 characters in mind, you can only go to the Underworld and Fissure Of Woe if you're level 20 (special dungeons with the best drops in the game), and you should only participate in GVG when level 20.

So in reality, most of the meat of the game happens after 20, but you can't level up anymore. Think of levels 1-19 as the pre-season.

I like the game. I won't even bother asking to join the guild until I get a few more levels and quest progress under my belt.

I am selling a copy of this game in mint condition as well as an account key for it (seperate from the mint condition's key) if anyone is interested. If you just bought the account key you could dl the client off the site and play right away as well. More info in the forum about sellin stuff. ;p

Tried playing the other day, this is about all that came of it:

http://www.popnko.com/imock/davidda.jpg

This is after the tard was in a group with me, then attacked some very nonthreatening guys who raped us to pieces, then after we all got rezzed, attacked them again. Back to town for me, found another group, he joined, I told him to not do it again and his response was 'I DIDN'T ATTACK UNTIL SOME1 ELSE DID' and spammed that about 10 times. Long story short, I continue to hate people that play this.

If you hate the people who play Guild Wars so much then why dont you come back to COH? In the 14 days I played it I only came across two people I couldn't stand, a controller named Kid Vortex that would spam the chat menu with "YOUR ABOUT TO BE M I N D FUCKED" every time we went into battle and a tanker who wouldn't stop asking me if I liked Adult Swim (when I told him I didn't he left the team).

look up in the top left when you're in any town to see what district you are in. click there and scroll all the way down to pick an international district. all servers can access international districts.

I just crossed over today :o

Were black dye prices always so insane? It's 6.5K for one vial at the trader right now o .o

But funny enough, an entire set of bonelace armor, a decent weapon, and a plethora of scars would still be cheaper than one vial. Fuck that in the ear.

Shyandquietguy
Sep 21st, 2005, 04:52 AM
Before they implemented a new system for the economy, the black vials were over 60 plat. I think the highest was 87.

Also, I made a new character that I'm proud of. It's a necromancer that looks like Richard Kiel who is named Train Cart Warrior. He's going to stay in pre searing for as long as I can get him to stay there.

eggyolk
Sep 21st, 2005, 05:03 PM
every outfit i owned was dyed black and looked really neat. after more and more people got into the game, they decided to inflate the economy by making certain items less obtainable, even though your odds of finding a black dye are as great as getting any other color.

Ninjavenom
Sep 21st, 2005, 07:47 PM
i don't see how 6.5K for a vial of black is something that seems payable unless you're going for like a Black Knight of Hatred and Mean Things motif.
