Hocrap, I didn't know this came out today. D:
As soon as I saw it, I snapped it up, and rushed home to play.
Hokay, Japan under attack, yadda yadda yadda, hero doesn't know much about himselfblah blah blah.
Now that I've summed up the plot, let's get to the game. :O!
This one has more of a...Devil May Cry feel to it, this time YOU control the camera, and there's a combo system involved.
You collect red souls from defeated enemies to upgrade armour, weapons etc.
But, you can now level up and increase how many strikes in a combo you can do, increase how far you can move when you dodge, being able to roll when knocked over, stuff like that.
Oh yeah, the camera is controlled with the right stick now, so no more 'OMG CAMRA SUX D<' blues. :3
There's also the introduction of 'Valour' battles, these are essentially the same as the secret stages in DMC, where you must defeat an enemy, or a certain amount of enemies in a time limit, then you get judged on how fast you dispatched the enemy, and how much damage you took.
Once graded, you are awarded an item, the quality of the item is dependant on your rank.
You also have a team member follow you, who you can order around, take control of and stuffs.
However I'm unsure how many team members you can have at once as I'm only at stage 6.
You can also charge your special attacks to different levels, depending on how much magic you have stocked, and if you've unlocked the level by upgrading your weapon.
I'm also unsure how good the Oni mode is, as I've only used it against the first boss guy and not been able to do it again, most likely because he hasn't "Discovered" his powers or something cliche'D.
All in all, this is pretty freakin' awesome, I'll only rank the graphics and sound so far, as, well.
It's a bit early to give a total verdict.
Graphics - 10/10
As always in the Onimusha series, the visuals are superb, the character models are crisp, the backgrounds are lovely to look at, and the special effect "flashes" are spot on.
The FMV also follows the brilliance of the last 3 Onimusha games.
Audio - 9/10
Again, the Onimusha series never disappoints with an amazing orchestal score, and the fun-kay DMC style 'Valour' battle music.
OTHAR SCROES 2 COM L8R
It's also on 2 discs, which made me extremely happy when I opened the case. ;]
ne wahn els pleyd dis ;O
