With Freddy vs. Jason coming out this Friday, August 15th, I'm getting really friggin excited. Ok, probably way too excited... but I've been waiting for this movie practically my entire life. These are pretty much the kings of 80s horror movies and to see them in the same movie with some of my favorite metal bands as musical accompaniment is just too awesome. So, it was only naturally that I pay at least one big tribute to my favorite horror hero, Freddy Krueger, the smart-assed slasher of our dreams. I went back through the Nightmare on Elm Street movies and picked out my 10 favorite Freddy kills. Take a look and see if you agree.
As an added bonus, I did a second page all about the various promotional items that were released in conjunction with the Elm Street movies. Some of them good, some of them bad... but all worth checking out.

And if that's not enough Freddy vs. Jason stuff for ya, I just did a new Pixel Pals (http://www.I-Mockery.com/PixelPals) all about the new movie.
Enjoy!

I have only seen the first movie and New Nightmare, and bits and pieces of the others here and there. :(
I need to come over and watch the others sometime.

I believe that the arteries pass through the armpits. It's also easy to reach into the neck and shoulders by stabbing there. :anatomy
I don't think Freddy looks nearly as terrifying as Jason does, but that might be because i haven't seen any of the Elm Street movies.

Freddy isn't scary... he was more scary in the first movie, but after that he became more 'n more humorous. Jason has always been dead serious.
Michael Myers is scarier than the both of them though. ;)

Jason has always been dead serious, but he's also always been dead silent. I always found Jason boring, since he just kills and kills and kills without interacting in any other way - sort of like a movie monster instead of a serial killer (and monsters never really captured my attention). At least Freddy was talkative enough to threaten people and mess with them and act sadistic instead of just mercilessly rushing after them with a random sharp object.

I think it's funny that you can be an Olympic track star, and Jason just walks there, and he kills you. HE FUCKING WALKS!

jason MUST teleport in part 8 (new york), when he is chasing the dad, i think they seem to point this out as obvious at this point as well.
part 8 had a lot of problems, especially with the flow of time (and plot). eg: the toxic sewer shit happens at midnight, they leave the sewer 2 minutes later, and ITS MORNING! at least 6 in the morning!
anyways: the funny death in part 2 should have been included, when freddy comes into reality and kills the pool kids. "come on man, we dont know what you want, but we can help you", "HELP YOURSELF FUCKER!" (slash)
i thought that was hilarious.

I was one of the people that had made my own freddy glove because my parents refused to buy me the freddy glove from the store. They were terrified cuz they assumed I looked up to Freddy as if he was my hero. Fuck them, I thought, I could make my own. So I used electrical black tape, baseball batting glove and the four propeller blades I snapped off from a model of a helicopter. It was a success. Of course, my parents took it away from me after one camping trip where I got on my knees and begged my dad I wanted to start a campfire. :(
You left out one of my favorite kills from part 5, the motorcycle scene when freddy took control of the bike and shout 'Fuel injection!' before sending Dan to his death.

I always thought the line as Freddy performed the TV death was "Bumped to prime time, bitch!"
Maybe I heard it wrong...

The comic book guy looked bad-ass in that picture.
I must see it. :(

I believe that Friday The 13th Part 8 contains a scene of a girl in a disco section of the boat trying to escape Jason through different corridors, but he keeps re-appearing in front of her every time she turns around. I guess that pretty much explains (sort of) why he could catch pretty much anyone. Teleporting bastard. :(

i was just curious if anyone else thought the way freddy killed that one kid in...i think it was the third one...ya know, where he like, tore out all his tendons and used them like puppet strings to walk him off a building, should have been on the top 10 list. cuz i sure thought so.
no disrespect, of course

I liked that kill a lot, along with Tina's death in part 1... but the kill that just barely missed the top 10 list was the one where he gives Dan a "Fuel Injection!" on that motorcycle.

nearly every horror movie with cops apearng to drag away corpses has the line "it was suicide". like in the 'welcome to prime time bitch' death, they seemed to think she leaped several feet off the ground and into the tv , alright its the only rational explanation but they dismiss deaths as suicides very quickly in movies.
in real life, a guy killed himself using a home made giulitine (spelling?) with fancy timers and such, and the press realese said 'possible sucide', then a week or two later they confirmed that it was suicide.
movie cops are dumb. except axel folley, he is a regular brainbox.

When you murder someone, you want to make it look like a suicide. The case you're referring to is pretty fucking special, but the cops still have to make sure before they can go out in public and give an official conclusion.

So why does Freddy use those claws anyway? Did he make them himself to kill people with during his life?
(I never got to see the Nightmare on Elmstreet movies as a child, so pardon my ignorance.)

Yeah, he made and used them in real life to kill people (mainly kids). He still uses them to kill people in their dreams, but over the years his kills became more 'n more creative.

I just found a rather informative site on the series. It has a timeline, articles, the works.

I have the Nightmare On Elm Street Boxset too, but someone I know scratched the Nightmare 5 disc to shit. He denies it was him, but it looked like one of his fucking cats had a field day with it.

Bah, I say the puppet-walk one from the dream warriors is the best. Aside from that, good choices.
Btw, I watched dream warriors yesterday to celebrate freddy vs jason (f13 part 3 today) and I'm certain the part where the girl says "In my dreams I'm beautiful...and bad!" is the lamest thing ever put on film.

I'm gonna try to do a Jason movie review this week too if I can fit it in before Friday. Think I might cover Jason Takes Manhattan if I can find a copy of it on DVD in time.

This is so funny, I was watching Nightmare on Elm Street 4 last night, and I said to Declan that someone should do a 'best kills' thing after seeing the 'wanna suck face' death :lol. BRILLIANT.
I'd have to say that kills number 4 and 2 are my favorites. 'In my dreams I can walk, and I am the Wizard Master!' still cracks me up to this day. Great job :)

Thanks, good to see a lot of people can appreciate the finer things in life such as cheesy classics like the Elm Street films.
Tomorrow night you can expect my 2nd piece in tribute to the upcoming Freddy vs. Jason film... and this time it'll be all about one of Jason's movies. Worked all day today on it... and that was just taking all the screenshots and formatting/animating the graphics. o.O

Just be a man when you grow up, that'll be good enough.

Man, you rock for putting that thing together. I know how time consuming it is to put something like that together, and I'm impressed.
I just started htting this site... I'll be looking forward to some more of your stuff. Keep this shit rollin!
