Why won't Sonic just go away?

So besides the fact that Sonic is going to be a werewolf in Sonic Unleased (complete with Stretch Armstrong arms. Because werewolves totally have stretching arms), Sonic has an RPG coming to the DS developed by Bioware, which will undoubtedly explore the super deep lore that is Sonic the Hedgehog.

Now someone showed me that Sonic isn't just a werewolf, but now he has a sword in some other game.

Not really. Every game is supposed to be the next "reboot", and every game has stupid shit like guns or motorcycles or werewolves or some crap.

I think people still buy Sonic games because they still cling on the the hope that a good one will come and rescue the series. I personally haven't played one since Sonic Adventure.
