Diablo 3 isn't look so great. Looks like WoW lite with the Diablo title slapped on. My buddy got in the closed beta and said that it's an okay game, but it just seems really off for some reason. He seems to prefer Path of Exile over this.

It will. And I am sad that the paladin is gone; that was the only class I actually ever got around to playing Diablo 2 as. All the new classes except the barbarian don't really appeal to me at all, and I don't want to be a barbarian.

Also I had a blast going through the game with my friends on a LAN, so I guess that is gone this time through as well.

I don't like the WoW look, and while it's not a game breaker it's certainly not a game winner.

I just don't think this game will be as good as Diablo 2.

It is not the internet connection that bothers me it is Blizzard's swiss cheese like lackluster security that anyone with 30 seconds and a password search program can use to steal accounts thanks to how battlenet works. I had no intent to either hack items, or play online (other than on a LAN type level) so there are things there that are not at all for me, and telling me I have to conform to their way of doing things when WoW gold farmers/account thieves have already proven how weak and flawed the battlenet system is.... well that dog won't hunt, monsignor.

It is an easy problem to have, all they need is your email attached to your battlenet account (since the geniuses at blizzard thought making your email your account name was a good idea) and a password search program and they can be logged into your account shortly. Sure you can order a stupid keyfob with a numerical randomizer, but why should I have to pay shipping and handling to fix a mistake Blizzard made?

There were people in my WoW guild who got hacked every second month it seemed; turned out that they were the kind of retards who use IE6 in Windows XP and click YES to everything that popups up, plus they run the attachments that come in spam emails.

You can get the authenticator app for your smartphone, too. You don't need the physical device anymore.

it's like WoW in the sense that the log in and set up of the UI is like WoW, so if you never played diablo before but have played WoW then you won't feel lost and the new diablo3 will feel comfortable.

It did, and because Blizzard forced me to use my email for my user name they were able to jack that email address too.

While I was able to recover everything, there was still a violation of security that I have never experienced in any other user account/password game in my entire life. Unacceptable in my opinion. My guess was they got a hold of my email somehow (I thought key logger initially but none of my other MMO accounts got touched and some were as permeated with the same sorts of activities, Lord of the Rings for example) Once I talked to a few people who were knowledgeable about such things I realized that it only took my email address, which isn't overtly difficult to get really

The only real protection your battlenet account has by itself it you are in a 'got hacked lottery', so being in a crowd of millions is all that stands between you and account theft minus that stupid keyfob

I joined my first public game, and within half an hour, I got hacked. Went in, changed my password, and got away with 40k in gold by the time I got back in a couple minutes later. I saw there was some unfamiliar guy with a lvl 1 barbarian in my recent players list, so I sent in a report explaining how that circumstantial evidence points to him being a thief!

Forget the auction house, the next money-making method Blizzard should introduce should be a minigame where you hack other players' accounts for gold. Seems like it's about that easy for hackers right now, and it would give the other players a chance to see what all the fuss is about.

but no, i don't have one of those keychain authenticators. Anytime you read about someoen getting hacked on the forum though everybody starts basically yelling at them that it's their fault for not having an authenticator and its their fault for having an unsecure computer/falling for a phishing scam etc.

i kind of wanna make a meme outta like,

We were all going to do that, but then we realized how shitty it would be for some hacker to sneak in and steal 40k in real money, and not just gold.

Most of the people who have been hacked have been keylogged at some point in the past and use the same username/password on every site. If you have any kind of smartphone, the mobile authenticator is completely free.

No one's going to be using the RMAH when it comes out. It's way too easy to get gold in this game, and with the number of times the AH fucks up with lost items etc, people are going to avoid it like the plague once it involves actual cash.

In other news, I'm busy smashing my face into Act 2 Inferno. :(
