Se7en is an awesome thriller, and certainly spooky enough in parts to count as a "horror" film. The awful fates of the victims are WAY scarier than anything that happens in the Saw movies, and those are classified as horror.

his entire back should be already eaten away by decubitus, yuck

Is it just me or was it about the same time 'Se7en' came out, horror movies changed from murderous slasher movies to R rated torture snuff films?

^I agree

Gotta love Se7en, one of the better thrillers of the last few decades (and it had Morgan Freeman. That already gives it extra points in my book).

Interestingly enough, my favorite scene in this movie (though the Sloth one is great, no doubt about it) is one that isn't even a horror one.

Spoilers!

That one is really fucked up, I was 12 or something when I saw it and damn, did I shit my bowels when this dude started coughing. This movie was so remarkable that every following thriller had to declare iself "the next seven" or "better than seven" or "just like seven."

I saw this in the theater and yelped like a girl, but 'What's in the box?!' is still my favorite.

the sloth one ws the first one that got me by surprise, especially when we find that he's alive, but the one for "lust" was just as fucked. put a gun to a guy's head, strap on a serrated-knife dildo and tell him to fuck a hooker to death. messed up stuff indeed. mostly it was seeing the look on the guy's face when they found him. jus tthe thought of all the trauma he just endured was insane

I remember seeing this movie in the theater when it first came out. I was in college and I reviewed it for the school paper and they changed my article title to totally contradict what I wrote about it. Don't get me wrong, it's a great twisted movie, great villain, I jumped, I watched it through my hands, I was making all sorts of "eee eee eee" noises, but there were aspects of the movie I didn't like. I know the movie was supposed to be dark, but so dark you couldn't *see* I knew the dildo was bad, but I couldn't see why :/ which kind of ruined it for me. And I thought parts of it were somewhat cliche (particularly the ending). Granted, our villain was clever, but when it came to the end, I just didn't like it. I understand why he did it, but I didn't like it, probably because of the admission made to Freeman's charrie earlier in the film. If you've seen it, you likely know what I'm talking about.

I have no problem agreeing with Proto that the above scene is one severely f'ed up moment, though, which is, of course, the core of the article *laughs*

I'm not afraid to say I did not care for this movie. Maybe it was the plot holes. Maybe it was the inconsistent characters. Perhaps I had gas that night. Whatever it was this movie rubbed me the wrong way.

Eat your heart out, 'Disturbing Behavior'!

The scariest thing about Seven (I refuse to spell it in that "other" way) is how overrated of a film it is.
