              Wild
Willy Parsons talks about "Smart Alex" and Steve
              Oedekerk!

             It
["Smart Alex"] was originally titled "Levitation Blues" and changed when we
began shooting. It was made in 1987 on a shoestring budget, one shoestring! Steve wrote, directed and starred in it as Alex, an inventor
who made a anti-gravity machine that the mob is trying to get from him.
The film also featured Tom Wilson, Dom Irrera, Myself, Lenny Clark, Johnny Dark, Murray Langston, Valerie Pappas and a few more. It was
never released on video, but Steve did try to get it out there. He just
never could get the right deal I suppose. Everyone worked for free because Steve is such a great guy and everyone knew he was footing the
bill on everything. One little story about Steve and myself. We are both
comedians so we had fun acting like big shots during the filming. We used
to act like big actors with attitudes and stage mock on the set blow ups
like they do for real on bug budget films, anyway one day me and Steve
were having a fake tiff when I screamed out that I would not take this
kind of abuse and I was going to retreat to my trailer until he could
satisfy my demands. Well, in Steve fashion, he played right along and
yelled at me that I could not go to my trailer. I said Why not? and he responded with, We are shooting the car chase in there! We laughed hard,
as we did everyday of shooting. No one wanted it to end. We ate bologna
sandwiches with Diet Hawaiian Punch and we stole every location, which
means we had no permits. We would just pull up, set up and shoot the
scenes and drive off fast. What made it real fun is the fact that we
were shooting guns at each other in public! We could have really scared
the hell of some people and we did. Hope this helps a little. Ask Steve
to let you screen the movie for God's sakes. If someone made a worship
page for me, I would send them nude photos of my ass!
(Webmaster's note: now you know why I
don't have a "Wild Willy Parsons Worship Page"!!)
            Willy
