Jeanette X I think the glasses are supposed to be night vision goggles or something...
Apr 29th, 2003 07:14 PM
Mockery What the fuck were they thinking when they gave her those shitty glasses? Kryste...

Jeanette X Free comic books?! WOW! I love comics! I especially love Catwoman...

Classic Catwoman:

Late sixties Catwoman (drawn to resemble TV show):

"Mod" Catwoman, early seventies:

Frank Miller's Version, 1987

Jim Balents version (My favorite!)

Current Catwoman (ugh!):

Rongi I never got into comics. I don't know why either .
Apr 29th, 2003 06:04 PM
punkgrrrlie10 Well that's because no one EVER criticizes politicians....

Protoclown @ Fatsatan

I'm reading the response thread on Fark right now, and a few people on there said they disapproved of my "cheap shot" on Bush and at least one person said they stopped reading immediately after that sentence.

OH NO! I DON'T LIKE BUSH! HOW OFFENSIVE AND SHOCKING!

Grazzt He's someone who hasn't read the cool Peter David Aquaman revisions.

Well, who are you to call Aquaman an orange-garbed useless weakling?
Apr 29th, 2003 05:36 PM
Grazzt Comic shops should have some sort of worldwide communications network.

Protoclown He just has the same name. And yeah, I'm going on Saturday.
Apr 29th, 2003 01:26 PM
Mockery So the owner has the same name as the "Sin City" Frank Miller or he IS the "Sin City" Frank Miller? If you're going down there on Saturday I might catch a ride with ya to check it out... lemme know.
Apr 29th, 2003 01:08 PM
Protoclown You should come with me to Richmond Comix. It's the best store in the city, and the owner's name is Frank Miller (which coincidentally happens to be the name of one of the most popular writer/artists in the industry...he did "Sin City" and "The Dark Knight Returns" to name a few).
Apr 29th, 2003 12:13 PM
Mockery I can't believe Stories comics isn't supporting free comic day, those bastards. I'll have to head into Richmond instead for some free comics...

FS I would read at least half the comics described in this piece.

Four-armed, four-legged man sounds exciting. I wonder if they have the first issue at the Smithsonian... then again, it's probably still in its original candlewax cover.
Apr 29th, 2003 07:32 AM
Grazzt It's okay if you don't get the jokes. I hate comic fans (fans of anything really) who assume that everybody knows what they're talking about when they rant on about how Superman is a republican, not a democrat.
Apr 29th, 2003 07:29 AM
The Unseen it made me about once per paragraph
Apr 29th, 2003 06:10 AM
Ninjavenom I just happen to be going to my local comic shop this weekend, too. w00t!
Apr 29th, 2003 01:18 AM
UnDeath
the comic shop in town is participating, as well as 3 in Seattle
Ah well, I was looking for a reason to start collecting again, after I sold my old one a few years back, yay.

empty gas tank I'm gonna be cheap and hit up like 10 shops to get free books. Well, I probably won't be able to find that many, but...
Apr 29th, 2003 12:46 AM
Protoclown When you have comics, you don't need chicks. FACT.

Edit: Oh, and Empty, I know that a LOT of comic stores are giving away additional comics aside from the "official" ones that are in the Free Comic Day packs.

Check out www.freecomicbookday.com guys (as I'm sure you already have, Empty) to see what the "official" free books are.

Good to finally see you on the new boards, by the way.
Apr 29th, 2003 12:45 AM
empty gas tank of course, all I'll probably get from the Grace Street comic shop is an issue of Wonder Woman and Archie's Adventures.
Apr 29th, 2003 12:39 AM
Grazzt Unless you date a chick who has more comics than you.
Apr 29th, 2003 12:35 AM
Carnivore Hells yes!

Of course, I was once a collector myself. I curse the day I let my collection go.
Apr 29th, 2003 12:34 AM
Mockery And Carni swoops in with the first "comic book people can't get a date" comment. Who's next?
