Protoclown | Hell man, I've never even HEARD Pet Sounds. I just said it to make you whine like a baby. | |

Then what is? Because Pet Sounds messes some of the best male harmonies together with extremely catchy, sophisticated songs. It's definitely the best American pop record of the 60s. And Dole, I have some Smile bootlegs, but I haven't heard of that list. I just joined it, but it sounds like the disc may have been stopped. Either way, I can't wait for the official version. |

No, not really...it was mentioned in passing in an article about the concerts in the UK press. Supposedly it is being assembled by someone else, and 'supervised' by Brian. No doubt it wont satisfy the thousands of smile fanatics out there, but it will be great to have all those tunes on an official release. Very nice to know we get the smile concerts in the UK before anyone else in the world! Plus I am booked for the first night ![]() ![]() There is something cool you can get that is free: if you look up the yahoo group 'project smile' and sign up, you get sent a free cd rom with TONS of stuff on it- loads of the session recordings, articles, the album cover, video clips etc etc. You sign up to a list, and agree to burn two copies for people on the list when you receive it. Its super cool and totally free. |

At last someone mentions something decent on here. I have no idea whether its the 'greatest american album' or whatever, all I know is its fanfuckingtastic, especially the stereo version they released a few years back. I have my tickets to see Brin Wilson doing 'Smile' live for the first time in its entirety EVER EVER next year!! And it will be followed by an official release of smile ![]() |

Is Pet Sounds the greatest American recording? I think it just might be. :/ |
