ScruU2wice you can get oberweise milk in the glass bottles hear but im not fancy like that.

Chicago is pretty great, i haven't been downtown for awhile though. Ive basically lived in the chicago area all my life and visited toronto like 7 times. The biggest change i noticed, was that toronto was a little bit more organized in public transportation and there are far more asian and muslim people there. thats about all i can think off right now :/

Buffalo Tom Any neighbourhoods I should avoid like the plague? I don't want to rent a place where I'll have to wear a flak jacket just to go get a quart of milk.

Sethomas When my school lets me, I live in Hyde Park. It's the most afluent predominantly black neighborhood in the country, and also has the most bookstores per capita this side of the Mississippi. It's really not that expensive (though I can't pull any numbers out of my head) but it's about a half hour to forty-five minute ride to get downtown. The odd thing about Chicago is that very few businesses cater to insomniacs. If you're downtown at midnight on the weekend, you'll be lucky to find something to do.

Other than that, I love it.

sspadowsky No, that's Boys Town. I meant artsy-trendy in a snotty, pretentious way. Not a homo way. Boys town is just freaky-deaky.
Sep 19th, 2003 04:18 PM
McClain "artsy-trendy"

read: extremely 'mo

sspadowsky Our 2-bedroom was $1100 US. Ours was referred to as "River West." It's a decent neighborhood. Lots of nearby restaurants, bars, all that stuff. It's also close to Wicker Park and Buckhead, the artsy-trendy part of town.

Buffalo Tom Well, 2 bedroom here is about $1500 CDN. What's the average rent there? What's the cheapest and best neighbourhood?

Buffalo Tom I got an interview on the 29th with a company situated in Chicago. I'll definitely take the time to check the city out while I'm there on somebody else's coin.
Sep 19th, 2003 11:38 AM
sspadowsky BT, you might like living there, being a city-boy and all. I might have enjoyed it more if circumstances had been different (i.e. if I had had money at the time). I don't know what Toronto is like in terms of cost of living, but Chicago is DAMNED expensive. If you can afford to do all the fun stuff that makes Chicago great, then you'll have a blast.
Sep 19th, 2003 11:33 AM
McClain I didn't mean to incite the serious side of you. I'm sorry.
Sep 19th, 2003 11:26 AM
mburbank Chicago is great comedy town.

And yeah, I'm a little bitter. Better yet, I feel stupid about being bitter. I think it's my lack of success. I find it galling that I find it galling.

McClain Haha! Boibank unz bittah!

Chicago kicks muchas assias! Fuck the naysayers with a studded nub, Tommy boy! MOVE THERE! Kick it at Wrigley. The bars are awesome in the city. July 4th is madness. Oprah is even fatter in real life. The women aren't so superficial (but still have grande chichi's). Appreciate the four full seasons. It's the midwest life big-city style. Does it get any better? THINK NOT!

~edit: Jesus Christ Spooky. WTF? He asked for an opinion, not a crappy story about three freaks let loose in the city. THIS IS THE STORY OF ME, BLUEBERRY SHORTCAKE AND TAUL BUNYUN BEING CONFUSED WITH DESTITUTES IN CHICAGO. WHY DO PEOPLE DISCRIMINATE AGAINST US JUST BECAUSE WE LOOK DIFFERENT? IT SUCKED THERE BECAUSE WE ARE SHITTY PEOPLE WITH NOTHING BETTER TO DO THAN VANDALIZE BURGER KING AND TAKE FREE RIDES TO THE TOP OF BUILDINGS. YARF.
