Pub Lover My first alcoholic beverage in over a year was last week, I had a Monteith's 'Rata Honey and Spice flavoured Summer Ale', this was my first time drinking this type too, so it was pure joy, I really recommend anyone that visits NZ to try it. It is limited release, so you'll want to come in the summer.

I was just talking to Tropical about our mutual academic failings, whilst I was drinking a can of Ranfurly Draught, which is very much a good beer in the standards of beer, & far exceeds those mass marketed rubbish.

I'm now half-way down a bottle of Speight's 'Porter', which is a marvallous double-malt stout. I could quote the labels of the bottle, which would be very hard for me as I'm very much unable to read anything smaller than Pt.8 size text at the moment, but be sure it explains the beers aroma & taste magnificantly, as they are magnificent indeed.

Baron Von Zipper When I feel like drinking something expensive I'll drink a Guinness but most of the time I drink an Iron City. It's a `Burgh thing. Oh Great, The few brain cells I have left I use to remember old beer advertising slogans.

Professor Poddar But Jeff,
I never said that I lived 15 miles from A.L. My house on Main Street is probably 3 miles distant. Is that you who honks when they drive past at three in the morning?
Geggy lives in Salem- which is about 15 miles from Andover, is it not? I recommended Andover Liquors to him.

Carnivore Did you say 15 miles? But you live right down the street from Andover Liquors, Mr. Poddar

Geggy- Kilkenny's

Andover Liquors (in lovely Andover, natch) carries, or at least used to carry Kilkenny's. Don't know if driving 15 miles for beer is worth it...
what am I saying? It's ALWAYS worth it. I make road trips for Brazilian beer.... Xingu!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As for Blueberry Lager-- noooooo! I was not the culprit, but had the misfortune of drinking with someone who tried it.
Their Black Cat Stout is much better.

I bet the first drink from Beer Works that you've ever drank was the blueberry lager. Am I right? AM I RIGHT?! HUH?!

Have you seen a 6-pack of Kilkenny around? I love that beer and I can't seem to find it in America.

Professor Poddar Not bad, but not a patch on Fuller's IPA out of London.
Witch City? Not a terrible city to drink in- at least O'Neill's has Caffrey's and Carlsberg on top.

Bod Signature forum!

Beer is queer. Drink cider.
Feb 16th, 2003 03:55 PM
Professor Poddar I take it you don't like Canterbury Draught, Pub Lover.
Hey, I think Steinlager is great for a light beer.
I will look for Speights.
Bloody fuck-- I am due for a pubcrawl in Christchurch this August-- there had BETTER be good stuff north of the Waitaki River!
Feb 16th, 2003 03:46 PM
Pub Lover Any beer brewed above the Waitaki is total piss.

Everyone should drink Speights.
