Mammoth, most newbies get abused for two reasons: -It's fun. Most of the time. -It's a way to root out people that suck. Verbally attacking them is just one way of getting a response out of a person, which in turn lets everyone here see what kind of person they really are. When someone endures a newbie beating long enough or even manages to throw back some effective insults, they gain respect (and sometimes love  ). And then there are people whose first posts impress so much that they're immediately deemed cool. Or people who just sneak in the back door and aren't really noticed until someone starts asking where that peculiar smell is coming from, like me.If we'd change it, it wouldn't be fun. NOW PUT THOSE KLINGON PAINSTICKS AWAY, ACHIMP.

I MADE A "WELCOME ME" THREAD LOL IT WAS "TEAM RICK ASTLEY"  (I wasn't always loved when I first came around. You know what I did? I cradled my head and tried to cry, but I couldn't, because I was too busy trying to wonder why these folks would be indifferent to someone they didn't know, to an undeveloped name attached to comments that attempted to ring with some tone of familiarity.) BOO HOO POOR YOU YOU'RE NEW AND IT IS COLD AND STRANGE  THERE ARE CERTAIN CONFORMIST ROUTINES YOU HAVE TO GO THROUGH IF YOU WANT TO BE INVOLVED IN A COMMUNITY IT IS VERY OBVIOUS

I think the only reason I wasnt labeled a complete cocksucker by everyone is casue I didnt annonce myself to everyone or really stand out. but then again I guess that is why I am nothing special either. Max made me LOL And there shouldn't be anything against new people. What I hate are people who fucking suck. There are new people who don't suck, and there are people who have been around a while who extremely suck. I just think some retarded ass new people who get made fun of just use the "you're only picking on me because I'm a newbie! Well all of you jerks were newbies at one point!" excuse so they can avoid rejection and the fact that they suck. |

Proposed solution: Upon registering there should be an "observation period" of appropriate length where the newly registered member may only read posts and not actually make any. Its only an idea. :/ It would certainly let people get a good idea of what to post, because telling people what not to post is obviously futile. On another note: Fartin Mowler was a keeper you guys! You let one of the good ones go!! |

Yeah. Like I've said before, the main thing with newbies is that the "regulars" are wary of a stranger enterting the community, much like that nature bitch who lived with apes. And since the majority of newbies end up being idiots (see: Jamesman Presents #1), it's become common practice to treat every newbie as a possible dipshit. But there are plenty of people who break through and get accepted. I'm still hope to be one of them.

| mburbank | Absolutely, that's where the gems are. George was an instantly accepted Newb, as was I for that matter. I couldn't care less if someones new. If they are funny, smart, add to the mix or can find really good pictures of Dita Von Teese and post them (and not that crap that everyone's seen a million times, God DAMNIT, my tastes are REFINED and SPECIFFIC!) If however, they patently suck and brag about it like "Shut Up", or leap into the fray hoping against hope tht no one will notice they're new AND all the while saying stuff no one would say if not for the fact that they just now showed up and didn't bother to even attempt to get the drift and attack someone with no context whatever and in an infantile, unfunny way, like Fartin, well then, KATIE BAR THE DOOR if you know what I mean. | |

I wish the new boards had an image resizing tag (unless I'm missing it). Anyway. Whoreable, Mr Adventure, Orange Juice Bruce and Les Waste came out of the blue on the old boards, and were immediately accepted and loved by many. Which is why they are worthy members of the SUPER CREW.
