I grew up on the show. I once remember watching an all day Marathon. I used to look like the one who wore a beanie. |

I Sure, they were fake, but for awhile, they knew their place. They weren't the first manufactured pop artists, they just put a face on it. Plus, the show has never gotten the proper credit it deserves. Forget Saturday Night Live. The Monkees were the first TV program to really deconstruct popular culture. You can get the show off of Netflix. |

| Royal Tenenbaum | The only episode of the Monkees I ever liked was the one where Zappa guested starred and bashed a van. | |

| phnompehn | Is it still on TV Land? Now all Nick at Nite shows is stuff I sort of remember being new. I mean, Full House? God damn. | |

Yeah, I didn't mean the music. Oh no, I'm glad I didn't grow up with that shit. I meant the show. I always hear how great the show was |

| Mockery | Actually, the Monkees TV show was pretty damned spiffy. I used to watch the re-runs on Nickelodeon all the time. | |

Yeah, growing up with the Backstreet Boys and NSYNC is equivelent to growing up with the Monkees. They were first mass-marketed manufactured band that is the inspiration for all the crap thats clogging the radiowaves today, and the reasons shows like "American Idol" and "Making the Band" are popular. Just like lennon said about the people in control of the music business have no idea whats its all about. I will admit they had some catchy lyrics. "Take the last train to clarksville and I'll meet you at the station... BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH" |

| phnompehn | Is not growing up with the monkees something to be sad about? I mean, that's like me being sad that I never saw the Superbowl Shuffle. | |
