i love good jam bands. i don't care who else does or doesn't or why. and it doesn't offend me if someone disses them. i love them. the groove, the feeling, the connection between musicians--it's all so moving to me. just last night, i was sitting onstage listening to my band cover hendrix's "hear my train a-comin'" with my eyes closed, thinking, whoah, they're ON tonight. it was grand. |

Theres nothing wrong with people not liking the shit I do. But if someone blatantly makes uninformed remarks about music I listen to, I'm not just going to be like "ok". If you post something about some hardcore band, I tend not to respond since I don't listen to hardcore music. Im sure you wouldn't like it if I started posting uninformed remarks about the shit you listen to. And people knew Bonnaroo was going to be successful, but they had no idea that it was going to sell out in a month, and that 70,000 people were going to come. The biggest band there was Widespread Panic/Trey Anastasio. Ween has been around for a long time, and have a large fanbase. But I'm sorry I didn't know the hype around a band was determined on wookie attendance. Edit - I hate cheese and phish but don't you dare bring WSP into this. THey are hands down the best live band around today. |

Yeah, Gene Ween likes the Grateful Dead, but I can't speak for Dean, I can't recall him mentioning them. Neither of them like Frank Zappa, but he is still one of my favorite musicians ever. I don't really care either way. Trust me, I put forth a valid effort to like Phish and all that jamband shit and i just cannot stand it. Thats not to say I hate *all* jambands. Parliament Funkadelic is very much a jamband and I think they're fantastic. Colonel Claypool's Bucket of Bernie Brains, i loved. I've caught the tail-end of two Galactic sets at a couple of festivals and I thought they sounded good. Anyways, I'm just saying I hate shit like Phish, The String Cheese Incident (the worst), Widespread Panic, etc. There can still be hype outside of a fucking mass media praise. All it takes is a few of you wooks to start following a band and more will latch on and start following. voila, hype. and yeah, right, the chances of Bonnaroo not being successful were like so incredibly high |

Dole | Have you any idea just how patronising and condescending you come across as? So what if people dont like the same stuff as you? Who cares? Anyone elses opinion is no more or less valid than yours.

now your just being retarded... What I meant by false statements was you saying that ween hates being associated with the whole scene, and that they showed up to Bonnaroo because it was "big". Nobody knew the first Bonnaroo was going to be big, the used no formal advertising besides a webpage and word of mouth. How do you conclude hippies don't know the difference between talent and hype? Most hippie music is ignored by the mass media, and popular culture. THERE IS NO HYPE. And since when is written law that if you make fun of something, you can't possibly like it? Not to mention that was there mindset 13 years ago... Edit - You probably shit your pants when you heard that song that they tributed to Jerry... |

damn you with your posting while i'm posting and what false statements? i really DID NOT enjoy trey or phil & bob and i guess if ween liked hippies, they wouldn't have songs like "Hippy Smell" and refer to them as wookies themselves. |
|
Mar 20th, 2004 12:49 AM | ||
huond | btw, i wouldn't have so much animosity towards wooks if so many of them stopped fucking following ween just because phish covered one of their songs. i almost puked from standing in line next to two with the most disgusting dreads i've ever seen at the 2nd to last ween concert i went to.

Come on, just admit it... Your just pissed off because you can't see Ween anymore without standing next some filthy tree huggin' long hairs are in the crowd. So in order to channel your anger you have to write false statements that you wish were true. Ween most likely doesn't care if there assiocated with anything or with anybody that listens to there music. There probably glad that somebody actually listening to them. Most musicians like them laugh at you whiney ass "fans". |

I'm sorry, I didn't know you were Ween's PR specialist. I think that was quite possibly one the most if not the most dumass uniformed post I've ever read on any message board. P.S. You wish you were a wookie. |

Alright, where the fuck is all this "Ween trying to be a jamband" shit coming from? They hate being called that and they only took the opportunity to play bonnaroo because it was so huge. Afterwards they said they regretted it and would never play hippyfests again as they are NOT fans of the jamband scene (and YES, that DOES INCLUDE phish!). Since when does a band covering another band's song automatically mean that the original writers/performers of the song like said band? sorry for being "uninteresting" because I don't see the purpose of "expanding my mind" as so many you fucking wookie fucks have put it to me. Love, huond ps. take a shower |
