kellychaos Kelly pretense! I curse you with the fire of a thousand midnight suns.

Big McLargehuge Every one is pointing out how stupid these americans are, but what about the real culprits here? The norweigens. They took advantage of those poor naive americans with their promises of "midnight suns". DOES ANYONE CARE ABOUT THE PEOPLE WHO WERE HURT HERE?

pjalne All right, that's it. From now on I'm not going to read any more of your posts, ArrowX. If you pretend like you're Kelly, we'll treat you like you were Kelly. And while I'm at it, I'm going to skip over all posts by sports, Duncan, Hitman and that other guy that's exactly like the rest of you.

Sethomas I generally refer to them as reindeer-eating Finnish sons of bitches.

They are often referred to as Lapps but they themselves prefer to be called Sámi (Saamelaiset/Samerna) because Sápmi is the name they use of themselves and their country.

Sethomas Is that from whence the Finnish word "Suami" comes? Are the Sami the same thing as the Lapps? I don't have the motivation to investigate.

Here's some more info. I haven't had the time to read it all, but it seems to cover most of it:

Thanks, that was interesting. I think it's pretty cool that they intimidated Gehngis Khan.

Carnivore At least 80% of Americans are unequivocal morons.

And at least 90% of the people who post on this board are too. Fortunately, none of them have found this thread... yet.

Once again, my countrymen shame me.

And I'm a bit curious about the Sami...since they are the natives, when did the other Norwegians come, and where did they come from?
Aug 5th, 2004 10:22 AM
pjalne Sami. They're genetically related to the Innuits (not sure about the spelling). Yeah, they're a pretty colorful lot, should be pretty interesting for tourists. Still, they refuse to walk in parades to amuse foreign people. Goddamn natives.

Zhukov What are the people called that live in the ice caves? They herd reindeer. What are they?

Surely they would be worth the trip.

US tourists disappointed in Norway

I just read in a newspaper that a group of US tourists demand their money back after a stay in northern Norway. While the brochures promised the residents a good look at the midninght sun, it said nothing about the fact that this was the very same sun that can be seen during daytime in the US.

How stupid do you have to be to actually think Norway orbits around a different sun than any other country during the night? And how stupid do you have to be to actually not be embarrased after making this mistake and even ask for your money back?
