It's a clockwork canary inside the egg. You don't have the tools necessary to open the egg without breaking both, thus making it impossible to beat the game. This is awesome and NOT BORING.

Drop it from the tree to break it DUH. I downloaded all three zorks awhile ago, easy to find. I never could beat Zork 1 though, so I never bothered with the other 2. |
