Skulhedface As long as they left Darkwing Duck, Gargoyles, and Rescue Rangers out of the vault, they can keep the rest in there forever.
Mar 20th, 2003 11:38 AM
Esuohlim What if they put the Disney Channel into the vault?
Mar 20th, 2003 12:57 AM
Skulhedface I liked Rocketman I brought that up because until just now I forgot it was a Disney movie.
Mar 20th, 2003 12:49 AM
Protoclown IF YOU DON'T SEND ME YOUR MONEY FAST I'M GONNA PUT MYSELF IN THE VAULT FOR TEN YEARS

I'LL DO IT TOO
Mar 19th, 2003 11:46 PM
Zbu Manowar And does anybody else notice that all older and more interesting Disney is getting the shaft? Despite the fake cheery shit they did put out, they have done some quality stuff like the Absent-Minded Professor and the Zorro TV series....yet do we see this on DVD? Nooo....heaven forbid Disney release something that people who can use a toilet would enjoy....
Mar 19th, 2003 08:18 PM
Zomboid Bonkers was one of my least favorites, but when I was a kid, I still liked it. I'd hate it now, but I did like it
Mar 19th, 2003 08:05 PM
Zbu Manowar Yeah, I kept changing my avatar because the Zero one was too small and the Absorbing Man looked really gay. I might bring Venom back, through.
Mar 19th, 2003 07:23 PM
Skulhedface Yes, I agree with Zbu. It's Disney's way of creating an artificial demand on their old movies (Sorry if that was already said). But then, no one can accuse Disney of being stupid, that isn't a bad idea as far as pulling in the masses' money, now is it?

BTW Zbu, I like your Victor avatar but I liked Venom better
Mar 19th, 2003 07:03 PM
Zbu Manowar The Vault thing is just bullshit so Disney can keep their movies selling regularly so nobody gets bored with it. If you want proof, steal a video store supplier's magazine and prove it for yourself.

At least now their cartoon bubble has broken with Treasure Planet. Thank God.

Yes, FatSatan, they've done the Vault thing since at least the early 90s. The earliest I can remember the phrase being said and verifiable is when they rereleased 101 Dalmatians.
Mar 19th, 2003 03:32 PM
Daphne I thought it would be shitty, until I learned that Kevin Macdonald did a voice in it.

I think it's probably my favorite Disney movie.
Mar 19th, 2003 02:41 PM
Ninjavenom Ew, Zomboid. Bonkers? Yuck.

Lilo and Stitch looked pretty cool, but i'm gonna wait for HBO to get it so no one at the video store will think i'm 8-) GAY 8-).

so do I!

I like a lot of Disney movies. Lilo and Stitch was really funny, and so was the Emperors new Groove.

Some of their shows were good too, but Bonkers? That show was ass. Trying to be Roger Rabbit.
Mar 19th, 2003 07:17 AM
Zomboid I like greek mythology too, so hercules the (cartoon) series also kicked ass. To be honest though, I liked any show with cool villains/monsters (aladdin had a lot of those).

And about the classic games...I still don't like competition
Mar 19th, 2003 06:37 AM
FS Oh yeah, they've been re-releasing movies for years now, sometimes even back in theatres - like when they put Snowhite back on the big screen and claimed they'd cleaned up the colors and digitally remastered it or some shit.

Have they done this 'vault' idea before, though? Kind of completely ignoring the widescale piracy of all media and the fact that most stores are probably still gorged with their work, to try and give people the idea that if they don't see the movie now, they won't see it for another ten years?

As does my mom. In fact, I think that's half the reason The Little Mermaid sold as well as it did.
Mar 19th, 2003 02:28 AM
pjalne Yeah, they rerelease a movie when they estimate the VHS tapes from last batch are worn out. We'll see what they'll do now that DVD is taking over.
Mar 19th, 2003 02:22 AM
Jixby Phillips Disney has been doing this since as long as I can remember. My mother collects Disney videos so I know.

Darkwing Duck
Gargoyles
Tale Spin
Duck Tales
Aladdin series (surprisingly good at the time)
Bonkers
The Mighty Ducks (read aladdin)
CHIP 'N DALE RESCUE RANGERS (yeah, bitch)
Goof Troop

And there's probably more but I can't remember ALL of them. Granted, I loved those shows when I was a kid, but they still kicked ass.

Edit: That's not including the movies that were really good when we were kids. Fantasia is still good
Alright, alright, I'll go through this one by one.
Darkwing Duck- still a great show, I'll watch it if I happen to catch it. It just seemed radically different from the other saccharine Disney fare.
Gargoyles- See what I said for Darkwing Duck, only more so.
Tale Spin- a good idea, but it wasn't hard to lose interest after awhile. If memory serves, toward the end it became "Baloo has cargo, pirates show up and steal it, Baloo gets it back, repeat ad nauseum"
Duck Tales- Yes, I'll cop to this one. But I don't see it anymore
Aladdin- I'm sorry, but the only part of the show I did like was the Genie (but I'm going by what I remember here)
Bonkers- never cared for it at all.
Mighty Ducks- Same story. I just couldn't watch this if someone forced me to.
Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers- Thank you for pointing that out, I can't believe I forgot that. I AM off my game today... Yes, this was actually my favorite Disney cartoon.
Goof Troop- While I love the character Goofy, I just couldn't watch this show with great enthusiasm. Sure, it works in theory, but Elementary School Goofy (Max) just isn't as funny.
Fantasia- Yes, but this is more or less a standout. It's not Disney sweetening up an old fairy tale,it's a very original idea, and the visuals were wonderful to look at.

As far as the "Kingdom Hearts" comment, I'm talking about what they do TODAY. Sure, I liked a few Disney things as a kid, but when you get older you realize the absolute SHIT they are smearing out today. The only Disney MOVIE I liked since Aladdin was Hercules, and only because Greek Mythology is a MAJOR interest of mine so not even Disney could ruin this movie for me.

And I review classic games because I KNOW I can write better reviews than 90% of the fucktards that try I could start writing other reviews but games are easier to review, to me anyway. But I did do a movie review so there

James Disney Vault Survivor
Mar 18th, 2003 06:25 PM
FS Wouldn't it be great if, after spending ten years in Disney's vault, all the characters in their movies had gone insane and had started eating the smaller characters to survive?

Skulhedface Yes, I forgot about Gargoyles :/

but it's so unlike what Disney would normally do that it didn't come to mind
