ReadLou Shovelling snow only usually happens during christmas.

:o

So, yeah - that.

Burger Lord In my family cards were only given on the lesser holidays (mothers day, valentine, etc) when some kind of gift had to be given, but no one wanted to spend more than a dollar. I guess because of this, I really don't understand the card giving thing at all.

Big McLargehuge Any kind of card is impersonal. Unless you make it yourself. When you send me a card what you are telling me is "Hey i care enough about you to stop by the card isle when i am at the grocery store and spend a dollar."

glowbelly i actually sent out christmas cards this year. then again, i'm all sappy christmas cheery.

plus my christmas cards rule cause i go to a nice shop and buy expensive ones that are pretty or funny.

Brandon My family -- immediate and extended -- never really did the Christmas card thing, and I don't plan on bucking the trend. It always seemed like a tremendous pain in the ass, and this thread verified that for me.

Jixby Phillips I refuse to do greeting cards of any kind. I don't buy them, I don't make them, and I don't care. I flat out refuse. Because I'm better than all of you.

When people ask you how you are enjoying christmas do you respond... "BAH! HUMBUG!" ?

I think if we had cards like that here Jesus would get upset.

Jamesic There is one thing which makes the lead up to Christmas a nightmare: having to buy cards and presents! (Yes, I know that MetalMatilda already mentioned the problem about cards)

At least Christmas day itself is special...

Cosmo Electrolux Arabs are weird and tacky.....so are Eskimos....I've never gotten a card from an Eskimo.

AChimp One of my uncles is living in Saudi Arabia for a few years on some work program, and he sent us a card in Arabic. It was really weird and tacky.

sspadowsky I agree with MM about the cards. It's a pain in the arse. That's why Ive decided that, this year, all my gift recipients will be getting cards in foreign languages that do not pertain to Christmas.

Dole You might as well just rape santa, achimp
Dec 23rd, 2004 09:21 AM
AChimp I trick other people into doing my Christmas shopping for me.

"Hey, you're heading out to whatsit. Can you pick up a thingamabob for me while you're there? I'm giving it to so-and-so, and I'll pay you back right away. I'm just really busy right now "

Cosmo Electrolux MY least favorite activity is the mad dash to purchase a gift for someone whom I didn't buya gift for, but got one for me....this late in the game, the things that are left look picked over. I hate that...

Oh....but I love Chex Mix.....my friend gave me a bag this morning.
