well, it wasnt a letdown because i wasnt expecting much, but it turned out to be decent. not a shadow of the original, but some worthwhile laughs in it, too. |

Esuohlim | I'd like to point out that this show is beyond awesome, and if it's half as good as the British version then I'm going to go buy it on DVD right now.

bute2005 | I just watched the show for the first time last night and I laughed my ass off. It was the one where they had the diversity coach or whatever.

Zebra 3 | Saw it for the first time last night. The eppy which had the staff with race cards stuck on their foreheads. Funny stuff and SolidSnakeASS is gay.

A remake of Father Ted is seriously the most ludicrous bullshit I've ever heard in my entire life. I mean, it's not how God intended it to be. |

Dixie | Apparently there will be a US version of Father Ted. I'm not too excited about it but I'll give it a chance. We'll see where this version of The Office takes us.

So many English sitcoms have had american versions made, most of them never last beyond a couple of episodes...this one lokks like it is slightly more credible.....but if an american audience has seen and enjoyed the original, what is the point of remaking it? Its never going to be as good. ....if a US version of Alan Partridge is ever attempted, I would be compelled to holiday in the US and shoot everyone involved with it until they were killed to bits. |

Rongi how many episodes did you watch of the British version? There are some absolutely hilarious scenes in some of them, especially when they have team meetings. I'm curious to see the american version. To be honest the first time the office was on I turned the channel over. But eventually I watched all the episodes. It takes a little getting used to, but there are some moments that had me in hysterics. Is there no Gareth and Tim type characters in the america version? If not that sucks! They had some of the best bits! Also if its anything like the British version, you may find yourself cringing at various points. |

yeah I think this show is going to be carried by steve carell. I didn't bother to watch it because I figured it would just be like 14 minutes of awkward silence and a few minutes of dialogue that would lead up to it, because that's what I heard on conan. I heard nothing but bad stuff about it on another board but I think I might give it a shot. I bet your view on it really depends on wether you've seen the original version. |

Mockery | The first episode is supposed to be the only episode that they "remade", after that it's supposed to go in a completely different direction. Why they remade just the first one, I don't know... maybe to pay homage to the original perhaps? Regardless, seeing Steve along with that weird guy from Six Feet Under on a weekly basis is definitely somethin I'll be looking forward to :o

I never saw the British version, but I liked what I saw on Thursday. It's probably because I hate how bad TV usually is. ![]() |

I just downloaded and watched the first episode, and I really don't see what the point in remaking it was. It's basically the same show, just less subtle and with US accents. And if I can sit in Norway and understand every single Bristish expression and reference, I see no reason why US audiences shouldn't be able to. I love Steve Carell, but I was kinda surprised he chose to play the boss as a raving monkey and downplay the sly patheticness of the original. Still, that's his take on the character, and there's no real reason why he shouldn't make it his own. He did a good job on the prank scene. What I have a problem with is the way everybody's got a toe planted in sit-com conventions, so nothing feels 'real' the way the original did. All in all, really unnecessary but not as bad as it could have been. |
