Immortal Goat | Thanks for the feedback. It's really helpful. I'll try that downtown trip you suggested, Helm, and work from there. And yes, the hands in the picture are actually my own. That part took the most work, I think. After I got the character down, I think I just kinda wanted to put a background up to go along with it and hurried a bit too much. Seems that a camera wouldn't be a bad idea for the background shots, either. | |

I on the other hand think you shouldn't bother with 'style' whatever it is, it will happen on it's own. What you need is more solid knowledge of how the human body works, less 'mangaish' influence and more more more practise in simpler poses before you try the tricky shots. I can see you used actual hands for reference for this, and that part shows. The walls and background are really nondescript, though. I don't suggest you use tiled bricks so much, because they're actually not all that common. Take a stroll downtown with papers and pencils on you. Do quick 10 minute studies of the buildings and people and angles and stuff. I guarantee you you'll understand urban environments a lot better after just one trip. What doesn't work in this most, is the guy's legs. In that perspective shot, you wouldn't be able to see them at all, I think. Furthermore, don't bother shading with the pencil, if you just want to get a middle tone. If you're shading with the pencil, use a proper lightsource and stuff. |

The pespective on the character doesnæt work, and the shading makes him clash with the environment. The shit stuff on the walls and on the street doesn't look good. And you need some work on the character design. But the perspective works well otherwise, except the buildings in the background. What you really need is to develop a style. I'm not trying to be a bitch, I wouldn't bother to give feedback if I didn't you have some potential. Keep working, I remember seeing some progress in what you have posted in the past. |

First real action drawing Thanks to a certain fellow artist on the boards, I have been inspired to get back to my drawings. This is the first one I have done in a while, and I feel that it is missing something (besides color, duh). Anyone have any ideas? ![]() |
