adept_ninja Hope Conspiracy is a gayer band but if you call bear vs. shark emo then I guess I like one emo band.

Ninjavenom I didn't care much for Jawbreaker when i heard them. Hope Conspiracy are fun to listen to, though. Whiny as fuck, but fun regardless.

Rongi um, i think the general opinion on emo around here is that it sucks, therefore there is no reason for this thread to exist.

Yeah, originally emo was just punk in which the punks were mad at themselves and not at other people.

SirGodzilla I like stuff like emo off of Dischord Records and stuff that sounds like Dischord emo, the stuff that's called emo today is just plain stupid, it's like they took all the good out and replaced it with suck. I can understand why people would be all aganist emo, because of what is called emo today. The biggest difference I can tell is that old emo was punk with sentimental lyrics while new emo is pop with a small punk influence.

Uh-oh, contraversy. So how many people here like Emo, and how many people here think that it sucks?

I am kind of half and half about new Emo like Taking Back Sunday, My Chemical Romance, and bands like that. I hate Hawthorne Heights that did that terrible song Ohio Is For Lovers.

Old Emo though, I love it, I can't get enough. Stuff like Rites of Spring, Rufio, Small Brown Bike, Sunny Day Real Estate, Jawbreaker (which is in my signature and avatar), bands like that. I especially love Jawkbreaker and Rites of Spring because they still have there punk/hardcore influences desplayed very predominantly.
