Captain Robo Eating crunchy foods make your teeth stronger.

They looked at the fossilized skulls of cavemen and hardly any of them had tooth decay or any shit like that.

It's because they ate crunchy stuff.

Les Waste If you do end up getting a root canal, it's not the actual root canal that hurts. I've had plenty of them without any pain. It's the fact that it's a front tooth. I don't know why, something have to do with less tissue by the front teeth or something, but one of the worst pains I've ever felt was getting the novacaine shot for a root canal in my front tooth. I actually screamed while he was doing it. It hurt the entire time he was scraping the nerve. It sucked.

So I hope you don't end up needing a root canal. They're even less of a pain to go through than getting a cavity filled unless they're in the front.

Thesaurus My teeth hurt just reading the story... Worst i've ever had was a broken nose from a theater class. Interesting really, since it was suppose to be one of those cheesy games to get you to trust the people you work with, but all i got from it was someone's knee in my face....

Helm My brother once a few years back wrestled me to submission, and then began tickling me, the fuck. I chipped my front left tooth on the marble floor. Almost in half. I now have half a fake tooth. I've detached the fake part twice since.

sadie

when i was sixteen, i left a halloween party/sleepover 'cause i was feeling sick. the road was slick, and when i hit that hairpin curve (which has, by now, been corrected), i must've hit the brake a little too hard. i only remember waking up sitting on the roof on my mom's car, which was upside-down and facing the wrong way in the ditch. my top right front tooth had been almost completely broken off, and my lower right front tooth had been chipped and pushed back a bit. all i could think was "i'll never be able to sing again." only when i verbalized this to my friend and her boyfriend who stopped and picked me up on their way back from hardee's, it came out, "i'll never be able to thing again." her boyfriend, who is now her husband and father of their two kids, still teases me about that. he thought i was simply delirious 'cause he didn't know i was a singer to begin with.

Protoclown Sorry to hear about your tooth, McClain.

Wiffles, SHUT THE FUCK UP.

Cap'n Crunch That sucks.

I remember a while ago, when my older brother was 3 or 4, he fell and slipped on a handrail coming down some steps. All of his teeth were pushed into his gums, and there was blood everywhere. He had to go to the hospital to get stitches in his mouth because some teeth went through his lip. After the stitches, he went to the dentist. They pulled the teeth back up.

Wiffles That sounds painfull >_<

James If there's no damage to the tooth, you won't need to get a fake one. They'll just hollow it out to reach the nerve, scoop it out, and replace it with these little red thingies. Then they fill the tooth in again, like a cavity filling.

If you catch the nerve damage early on, you're in much better shape. The nerve will just come out real easy, instead of them having to scrape out all the rotting mush. :grisleydetails

In the end, it doesn't hurt. And I can sympathize with medication having little to no effect. I had the dentist inject me with novacaine 3 or 4 times during the root canal, because it kept wearing off. Not like I was in pain or anything. I just felt my mouth tingling, like when you have a foot that's fallen asleep, and it's starting to get feeling in it again.

Just don't putz around with your tooth, or eat anything hard or chewy or shit like that for a couple weeks. Give it a chance to rest.

Carnivore If vicodin doesn't touch it, I suggest another drug that begins with V.

McClain Yeah, it's a bit loose... But the bizarre thing is that it was stuck HARD back in that position. The dentist had to fight to snap it back. I'm the one who actually had to do it. I had to bite down on a stick and use it like a lever. When it popped back blood started gushing and my eyes got all watery. Damn that hurt.
And this vicadin is doing nothing for me. Medicine never works for me for some odd reason.
I can't budge the tooth or anything, so I think I'll be good to go. It all depends on the "trauma" imposed on the nerve. I might have to get a root canal if it's severly damaged. I could get a fake tooth! RAD!

Les Waste Screw you Robo. When I was that old I had multiple root canals. Your story impresses no one.

McClain, I've had something like that happen to me. If the tooth is even just a little loose, make sure you're careful not to get a little piece of food stuck in it, cause then it will get infected and hurt like hell.

I'd imagine it would be loose too if it got pushed back that far

The Retro Kat Vicaden is awesome. Good stuff.

Captain Robo When I was 3 years old, I was bouncing on an inner tube when I fell off and slammed my teeth on a table. Both my front teeth were pushed back (hanging off too) and it was bleeding everywhere.

We went to the hospital and they gave me this stuff called Xylacane.... I'll never forget it. They had to stich me up while "I was under the influence of Xylacane"

Unfortunately this drug, rather than numb the pain, burned like some kind of liquid fire and make the whole stiching process all the more horrible.

Then, years later, I get new teeth

So there's my tooth story.
