glowbelly i hate oprah's list because everybody always associates good books that are on her list as bad books just because her name is plastered on the cover of it.

beloved won the pulitzer way before oprah put her stamp on it. one hundred years of solitude won the nobel prize before she stamped that one, too.

mr. p? did you read beloved? if you don't like it, fair enough...but i hope you aren't writing it off just because oprah likes it. something tells me you aren't that big of a dumb-dumb. AT LEAST I'M HOPING YOU AREN'T, SIR.

kahljorn Oooh, Toni Morrison is a kind of good author. I recently read the Bluest eye by her. It was banned in the county I live in because parents were afraid it would make their kids have incestual/pedophile relationships because the book depicts the act and the resulting insanity and life problems in such a good light. (it was the reading assignment in an 11th grade honors class, which is how the problem came up)
:sarcasm
Some christian guy actually got voted into the board of education because of it, "THIS IS A TRAVESTY! CHRISTIAN NATION UNITE -- VOTE IN THE JACKASS"

a lot of stuff by toni morrison is on the Oprah list.

I'm reading Tales from the underground by Dostoevsky, that book is awesome -- so far.

so what are the symptoms of being bitten by a baby exactly? TIREDNESS? SWELLING OF THE BREASTS? LONLINESS, FRUSTRATION, ANXIETY? CHANGINGPOOPYDIAPERITIS?

J. Tithonus Pednaud Glad you like Beloved, but it's pretty high up on my literary dislikes meter. Wasn't it an Oprah book?
