I was active duty Navy for eight years. I then did the Blue to Green program that HickMan mentioned - which means I did both Navy and Army boot camps. I was in the Army reserve for three years and I've been a civilian for almost three years now. I've got all sorts of real answers if you need them. Just ask. In the meantime, I suggest you read this thread in its entirety. It will answer a few of your questions. (it's more Navy-centric near the 2nd page methinks) http://www.i-mockery.com/forum/showt...t=17004&page=1 |

I damn near joined the Navy before my senses got the better of me. With that said, good luck and make the best out of your enlistment. |

What shall we do with a drunken sailor, What shall we do with a drunken sailor, What shall we do with a drunken sailor, Early in the morning? Give 'im a dose of salt and water! Put 'im in the brig with the captain's daughter! You haven't seen the captain's daughter, Early in the morning! |

She stands upon Southampton dock With her handkerchief And her summer frock Clings to her wet body in the rain. In quiet desperation knuckles White upon the slippery reins She bravely waves the boys Goodbye again. |

My cousin did his training at Great Lakes during the winter and he was pretty miserable, but I think he's perking up now that the weather is a bit warmer. Good luck. |

pac-man | You two need to get off your computers and start defending the country. Back in my day you had to gut a man before you got internet privileges. |

I know a couple guys from AIT (advanced individual training) who did the blue to green program where they transition from navy to army and they said it was a good time. What's your job? From my understanding Army and Navy basic is pretty similar. Except that we go through BRM (basic rifle marksmanship) for about two weeks and the Navy shoots a 12 gauge shotgun and an M9 9mm pistol. My advice, listen to your Drill Sergeant or any NCO or CO, for that matter to the T. Don't give them anything to yell at you about. Do the best you can and they'll see you're giving it your best. Don't talk back to the instructors no matter what. They tell you to get down in the front leaning rest, you do it until they tell you to get up. Don't show signs of weakness, nobody wants to see a weak member of the military. I call you that because I don't know if you guys are known as sailors or seamen or whatever. Basically, do the best you can every day and always stay positive and motivated. |
