Zomboid | One of my friends was talking about getting this game, and I had a nagging thought in the back of my mind that kept pressuring me to tell him "No! Don't do it!" but I couldn't remember why. Thanks for giving me an irrational hatred of games that I've never even played, MicroSUCK |

I thought your question was rhetorical. Umm, to answer your question, its remarkable cause the scenes are really amazing and that you are playing it and not just watching a movie of the character doing it Other games have done it before but i don't think on such a scale where you have total control over the character still Didn't mean to insult you btw, I don't want to start fights with anyone on the forums even with Zomboid |

Wouldn't it have been quicker for you to just type "yes"? What I quoted was the end of your explanation to Dimnos. You said that in the game, you will be playing scenes you would expect to be cutscenes. My question is, what is so remarkable about that? Just the spectacle, and knowing you're in control, or what? |

I don't know why its so hard for you to understand this But ok i'll explain it one more time. This is an awesome fucking game, and it has amazing moments in it where epic shit happens. Bam. EXPLAINED. |

Dr. Boogie | So there's really no difference in these scenes, apart from your own expectations about when you should or should not be controlling Drake? |
Oct 16th, 2009 03:53 PM | |
Dimnos | Well I suppose you should have it beat in that time. |

Microshock | I've had it since last Friday, I live in NYC man, land of broken street dates for every product |
Oct 16th, 2009 03:34 PM | |
Dimnos | Damn. You already beat that shit? |

Yeah. I emphasized it because bigtimecow assumed it was just you allowing to control Drake during cutscenes. But it's not like that at all. Sometimes the cutscenes quickly transition into sequences you play though, near the end of the game |

Well he was running for his life. I guess thats why I thought of it when you mentioned the truck. Your running left and right along this bridge jumping gaps trying to get to the end before you get flattened. I know there are a few other parts of the first one where the camera angle changes in a way not normal to gameplay for an added cinematic affect but you still have full control of Drake. That is just the only one that comes to mind right now. |

Microshock | I..guess? This has Drake more involved in the actual moments though, I don't really remember that sequence from the first game, but was he actually a part of it? |

Dimnos | I was thinking it might be like that part in the first game. Where your in the temple on the wood bridge as the pillars along the side of the room collapse. The control and gameplay are no different than when you are normally playing. The only thing that has changed is the camera angle but its more "cinematic". |

Why would it be like that? I only named one particular scene since it was in the trailer and i don't want to spoil the more exciting stuff If youre talking about the core gameplay, no it doesn't change but i was talking about that youre actually playing these scenes you usually expect to be in a cutscene |
Oct 16th, 2009 02:34 PM | |
Dimnos | So its basically just like the rest of the gameplay but the camera angle is a bit different? |

No it's not like that. Cutscenes are cutscenes in this game, things you cannot interact with. The official term for what im talking about is Active Cinematic Experiences, for example, theres a part in the game where you're running down an alleyway from an oncoming truck, so instead of it being a cutscene of you just watching it, youre playing it and actually shooting and being able to move the way you want Easiest way of saying it is that instead of watching something cool happening, you're making it happen |

bigtimecow | i guess i don't understand how these are even cutscenes then. unless they're parts of the game in which you have control but your actions have no consequence (like how you can walk during a cutscene/conversation in assassin's creed but it makes no difference to what happens). in which case, there's nothing great about that |
