UtterParadox Direct quote from the asshat:

I HAVE NEVER SEEN A BALD HEADED WOMAN
Mr. Asshat has never been in a cancer ward before, has he?

I see he's also taking the Bible literally... Fundamentalists are always so much fun.

O71394658 Yeah. Think so.

Big Papa Goat I think they had auxillary troops from conquered nations, but the legionnaries were all Roman, except for a few that had served in the auxillary for enough time to become Roman citizens. I think thats how it worked.

imported_Wicked Steve The Roman Empire was awfully big for its citizens to be confined to one or even a few racial groups; I was assuming the Roman army would be made up of a pretty wide assortment of shapes, sizes, and colors of people, rather than just native Romans. Correct me if I'm wrong, of course, since I'm only basing this on geography.

The_voice_of_reason But did he have long hair?

The_Rorschach "I always thought it ironic that Jesus is depicted as a white guy. He must have really stood out in the Middle East, where he would have been the one and only white person around (except for the Roman occupying troops, maybe..hm...virgin birth?). "

Romans weren't white :/. In my Anthro 335 coarse we read a report that their closest genetic stock is actually found in the areas outlying Spain, and of all fucking wonders, in Cuba. In any case, whether the report was representative of the reality or not, they were tiny brown dudes. We know that from the crispies at Pompeii and elsewhere.

Jesus was black, majorly so. From what I understand, Jews of that time resembled Nubians, so they kind of resembled Skinnies, thats No. African for you non-military types.

I personally thing it was Middle Ages devoutism meeting Middle Ages ignorance which gave birth to the white Christ, but in any case, it doesn't matter. I mean, he was God, not a man. He could have come back as a three legged dog with fleas and likely I would still worship Him.

Jesus was not a Nazarite! According to Numbers 6:1-27, a Nazarite did wear long hair. However, Jesus was a Nazarene and not a Nazarite. While the two words look similar in English, they are entirely different in looks and meaning in the original language of the Bible. A Nazarene was one that lived in Nazareth, according to Matthew 2:23. A Nazarite was one who took a Nazarite vow, according to Numbers 6.

I guess I should really keep out of this but, after seeing this I just couldn't help myself!

edit: I found (especially the end of it) it to be extremely funny !

Anti-Xocial Num.6:5 "No razor shall come upon his [a Nazarite's] head. He shall be holy, and shall let the locks of the hair on his head grow."

Jg.13:5 "For, lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son [Samson]; and no razor shall come on his head: for the child shall be a Nazarite."

1 Sam.1:11 "I will give him [Samuel] unto the Lord all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head."

"Gimme head with hair, long beautiful hair;
shining, gleaming, streaming, flaxen, waxen ...
Give me down to there hair, shoulder length or longer;
here baby, there mama, everywhere daddy daddy ...
hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair ...
Flow it, show it, long as God can grow it, my hair."

True. Look what the Catholics (and others) do what it takes to minimize the competition. Look how they bastatrdized the meaning of the paganistic pentogram symbol in one of their little smear campaigns for dominance. In fact, look what they've done to the word "pagan" (the definition below sounds pretty evil, n'est-ce pas?).

Quote:
PENTAGRAM or PENTACLE A five-pointed star sometimes surrounded by a circle. It is often used to symbolize Earth and its properties—stability, material wealth, the body, and practical affairs. Each point represents an element, with the topmost one representing Spirit.

PAGAN A practitioner of an Earth Religion; from the Latin a country dweller. Also considered any religion that is not Christianity.

I wonder if these assclowns have ever seen a U.S. 100 bill, or heard of Ben Franklin for that matter.

I am going to start telling people that I have long hair to keep the grace of God from shining on my head.

In my experiences, it is quite the contrary. I work with 3 gay guys. One is older and has a very prominent forehead, but even if it weren't for that, he would still have very short hair. The other 2 all have very closely shaved hairstyles.

Personally, I do not like the long-hair look. I prefer to have medium hair, myself. However, I do believe in the old saying "To each his own".

You are only not supposed to cut the sidelocks.

AChimp Doesn't it say that long hair on a man is dishonourable or something in the Bible? Ever since I found that out, I have always thought it ironic that Jesus is depicted with long hair.

I don't have any problem with long hair, but I don't think that I'd ever be able to grow my hair longer than a few inches. It would bother me too much.

Sethomas I used to have one. I've been tempted to grow it out again. I'm just limited with what I can do with a moustache because my upper lip hair doesn't connect with my cheak hair. :sigh
