kahljorn Ah, I doubt it would work, anyway. They'd be much too shamed.

ziggytrix I think it's more the other way round Khal. You can grant access user by user to restricted forums, but the other way round would be more of a hassle.

kahljorn "Like an I-Mockery rubber room?"

Yea, that was my idea. We'll jack it up with jackasses.

GAsux I have a lot of respect for John McCain. Whether I always agree with him or not, he is one of the few high profile Republicans that is not afraid to challenge the party line and I appreciate that.

Anyway, as for the recruiting thing, if you take Iraq out of the equation, there is no recruiting shortfall. Obviously its a long term plan, but if you draw down forces on the ground in combat in Iraq, recruiting won't be an issue for the Army and Marines any longer.

Dr. Boogie Good article.

One thing stood out to me, though: McCain said an important part of the strategy he outlined was to increase the size of our standing army, but he didn't seem to address the problem of recruiters having trouble meeting their quotas. If he has a strategy for that, I'm sure they'd love to hear it.

Edit: Granted, he said that we need to build support for the war at home, but I'm referring to more specific ideas than that.

KevinTheOmnivore Like an I-Mockery rubber room?
Nov 16th, 2005 12:05 PM
kahljorn Can you ban people from specific boards or does it ban them from all of them? If so, you guys should just have an "idiot" forum or something to that extent, maybe even general blabber.

ziggytrix *shrug* Accuse McCain of political maneuvering all you like - he still comes off as one of the most honest, straight-forward politicians in Washington.

I agree. Lately, I've noticed there's been excessive public relation stunts performed by the two groups for the reason of either political gain or approval from the public. John Kerry is rumored to have it another go at presidency in 08. Some people are accusing him of taking advantage of public opinion for political gain everytime he publicly denounces Bush AFTER the public expresses opinions on the war, Bush, etc.

fair concerns, but I'm concerned that they don't even really care as much about Iraq as they talk. If poll numbers continue to fall, they will begin to care less and less.
My point exactly. It's already clearly evident they don't care about the americans...why should even they care about the Iraqis at all? None of this make any sense to me. But good news once in a while is always comforting even it's bullshit.

Cosmo Electrolux I think he's already been banned again.....

KevinTheOmnivore You can get banned for that?
Nov 15th, 2005 02:02 PM
ziggytrix he's already been banned for dropping out of the mockwars.

KevinTheOmnivore Hi, Fartin.

So here's the deal, skipper. You are more than welcome to post in any thread you like here, weight in on any topic, or even start your own discussions.

But please refrain from dragging discussions down with your dumb posts. Please don't make anymore comments like "omg, why do you guys like talk about politics on a politics board?" If you need any references, please see everything you've ever posted up to this point.

So cut it out. Thanks for being a team player.

FartinMowler Do you guy's really get into this hyperbole? I just don't see how you can as a younger generation still consume and try and make sense out of a bunch of old political fuck heads.
Nov 13th, 2005 03:04 PM
KevinTheOmnivore I actually think the same thing every time I see the thread title, and I posted it.

Supafly345 I thought this said "John McClain" and I got excited because it would mean we won.

KevinTheOmnivore An interesting point about this speech he gave is the spin the conservative media is putting on it. I have seen some articles written on it that say he "slams" Kerry and Sheehan. I didn't get that impression at all.

Also, he quite clearly takes a swipe at the President:

"Better, I believe, would be to describe the situation as it is – difficult right now, but not without progress and hope, and with a long, hard road ahead – and to announce that things have improved only when they in fact have."
Nov 12th, 2005 05:15 PM
KevinTheOmnivore I'm glad you liked it, but remain skeptical. i like McCain too, but he has an agenda in giving this speech. In the speech, he distances himself from his friend Sen. Kerry, and takes a swipe at Cindy Sheehan.

i happen to mostly agree with McCain, but I doubt it's as rosey and wonderful as the picture he paints. He is attempting to inoculate himself from being called too liberal or moderate in 2008, ESPECIALLY since he introduced the anti-torture bill (did he introduce it? Can't remember). He's playing to conservatives, at a time when conservatives really need someone to play to them.

"But the thing is that I'm concerned about this country's future. I get the feeling the administartion is more focused on rebuilding iraq and not focusing on our (americans) needs. I'm concerned about the financial situation of this country. We're already borrowing a trillion of dollars from other countries to pay for this war. How much is this going to cost the taxpayers in the long run?"

fair concerns, but I'm concerned that they don't even really care as much about Iraq as they talk. If poll numbers continue to fall, they will begin to care less and less.

Geggy Wow, thanks for posting that,, kevin. Lengthy reading but that's some reassuring information especially coming from John McCain. McCain is one of the few honest and sane republicans that I actually have respect for. I hope to god he's right and I hope everything else I've ever read about the terrorism and the derailment of the war are wrong. Lets hope the administration cleans up the mess in the middle east in which they started back in the 1980's. Taking Saddam out of power was a good start.

But the thing is that I'm concerned about this country's future. I get the feeling the administartion is more focused on rebuilding iraq and not focusing on our (americans) needs. I'm concerned about the financial situation of this country. We're already borrowing a trillion of dollars from other countries to pay for this war. How much is this going to cost the taxpayers in the long run? The administartion has already cut off large sums of social security and soldier's wages so they can be able to pay for the war. How deep some parts of this country will go into poverty? In fact why are most pugs of the administration keeping their profits that they've earned from the war? Do you wonder if the war is going to make america even more unsafe from terrorism? The longer we stay in iraq the larger the terrorist network will grow. Because of the mass casualty of iraq civilians and holding thousands as detainees, we've already pissed off too many people...

KevinTheOmnivore Thanks, bud.

KevinTheOmnivore Has anybody had the baked crunchy Cheetos??? My God, I'm tellin' ya.....
Nov 11th, 2005 07:17 PM
FartinMowler Don't keep spouting American political crap. It's not a global sentiment and it's not a valid perspective of most of this planet.
