Hobo Renee | When my mom was in grade school her class took a trip to the California state capitol and she got separated from her class and ended up seeing Reagan walk past her in the hallway. She said that at the time she thought he looked really old and this was about 30 yrs ago. | |

Dr. Emmett Brown: Then tell me, "future boy", who is president in the United States in 1985? Marty McFly: Ronald Reagan. Dr. Emmett Brown: Ronald Reagan? The actor? [chuckles in disbelief] Dr. Emmett Brown: Who's Vice President? Jerry Lewis? Marty McFly: What? Dr. Emmett Brown: I suppose Jane Wyman is the first lady. And Jack Benny is secretary of the treasury. I've had enough practical jokes for one evening. Good night, future boy. |

I never much cared for the man, and the canonization his personality is going through right now in Western media outlets is making me retch. He was more style than substance. I do agree, though, if you're going to mock the guy, be funny about it. The only post I've read in this thread that was funny was McClain's joke about Ronnie visiting the doctor. Classic. |

Maybe some of you should do something to try and make the world a better place instead of just bitching about everything. Ronald Reagan was a great President and did a lot of great things for this Country. Those of you who admitedly don't know anything about him should STFU! Thank you....have a great day! |

Huond, Dude... Calm down. You're going to put some of the current board blowhards out of employment with that brand of dictum. You're just proving me right. And as for Reagan, I don't give two shits about whatever escapades are made of his death. I expect it on this board. I'd just appreciate if they were funny. Like, "His best movie yet will be his appearance in Faces of Death," or Ronald sits down in the doctors room and notices a frown on the doc's face. "Some bad news, I'm afraid. I'm sorry but you have a brain tumor and only have 3 months to live," said the doctor. Ronald is devastated. "Is there more, doctor?" "Yes, I'm afraid there is," replies the doctor. "You have Alzheimer's." Ronald's face lights up. "Thank God! I was sure I had a brain tumor!" |

OK, well what if we had a scale of 1 to 100 where 1 was Hitler, Pol Pot, or a mass murderer and 100 is Ghandi, Jesus, or sincere philathropist. Is it fair to compare him on that sort of scale? I mean, as long as we're making value judgements about the goodness of famous people's lives... But it's not really linear, and intent does matter (and is hard to judge with certainty), so I'm gonna give Ronnie a 63. |
